My SJ4000 becomes the first ever SJ with external mic (if I am correct). As per videos it looked too easy but we(me and a friend who owns a camera repair shop) had small issue with the female port and then as it only work with mono mic, we were testing stereo mic, which took lot of time. Then he converted my stereo mic into mono mic and made sure the casing is waterproof. Best part was, he made sure that it works properly......
