  • My Fazer is spoilt...! :(

    Guyz,
    It was all fine till I fit K&N filters in my Fazer...My mechanic did a lot of jetting and tuning to stop the stalling of the bike..But now, it stalls after like 9k rpm..The worst part is yesterday, I tried a drag race with my friend,who has a stock Fazer...He owned me and insulted me badly..My bike's pick up has been hampered..I rode his bike and found his pick up much better than mine...I spent like 1.7k for the filter and around 400 bucks for the mechanic and stock bike is better than mine....I don't know what to do...I'm happy if with K&N, my bike can atleast be same as stock Fazer if not better than it...What should i do ?? Also, the bike overheats{i feel}, funny smell comes if rode for around 30 mins continuously...Please help me guyz, i am extremely worried...not even getting sleep (

        U are running lean. Quite lean.
        Try upjetting with a larger main jet.

            Definitely nothing wrong with fitting a K&N. The mechanic has botched up the tuning. Find another competent mechanic.

            On the other hand, street racing on public roads is stupid and dangerous (no offence). Please use the track to prove your skill and your bike's worth.

                  We wouldn't need a forum if we all had same opinions, same thoughts, and same bikes..... Enjoy the difference.

                      Where's the scope for improvement then? Don't you get bored of stock config eventually?

                      Get a bigger jet. If its tough to find then get any small sized jet. Whichever size available will do. And then drill it to the right size. Start from the drill bit size which is one size bigger than your current jet and move up till you feel that the engine refuses to rev. Thats when you know you went too far and rich.

                        If you do mods be ready for the bike to be put in a basket earlier than normal life.If you have no knowledge on the mods do not go for it..till you find a knowledgeable mechanic. The bike overheating is an indication of running lean AFR. Try to go stock first to save your bike from further torture...Then find the right mechanic,to mod safely.

                          Dont worry Abhi.. I hope upjetting may solve your problem. Your bike is running lean. Try using the next higher sized jet til u feel ur bike is getting rich. U can know whether the bike is running lean or rich by examining the spark plug of your bike after running it for few mins. Consult a good mechanic who can do the mods neatly. Tuning is more important not to lose the pick up and to avoid heating of ur engine. Running bike for a long time in leaner condition may even harm your engine. Indian bikes commonly run on lean mixture (where ratio of air is more in fuel & air mixture). Installing filters like K&N will make it even more leaner. So it heats up the engine and the smell is common. If u upjet and tune in the proper way so that air n petrol mixture is balanced, then heating up of engine can be avoided and even u get more pickup.. You can search the threads about installing K&N filters in the forum to know more abt installing, pros cons etc..

                              @pavan
                              Man, I don't know how to do any upjetting myself....I need to find a mechanic...
                              @psr...I did a lot of research before deciding to fit K&N, many people suggested me this mechanic and so i went there. Not happy with what he has done....
                              @Puneeth Man, as i told earlier, i can't do anything myself....I'm trying to find a good mechanic in chennai, but the efforts are going in vain...Can't find anybody.

                              I think i should go back to stock.....But i spent like 1.7k on the K&N and Rs.400 for fitting it....It'll be a huge loss if i go back stock .... don't know what to do..!
