got a mail from bajaj saying that maybe due to the use of motul 300v, that leakage is occurring ... the recommended oil grade is 20W40 and i was using 15W50

Send those Retards a picture of the manual page which says that oil grade used should be 20 w 50 and then give them a nice explanation on what 15 of the 15w50 means and why it would not affect anything in your scenario. Also write this line "You people should now stop giving kiddish reasons as you are too old for this and try to concentrate on doing some real work."Originally posted by satan69in View Postgot a mail from bajaj saying that maybe due to the use of motul 300v, that leakage is occurring ... the recommended oil grade is 20W40 and i was using 15W50
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

20w40??? For 220, per manual, isnt the oil supposed to be 20w50? I somewhat agree to the point that the oil leakage is due to Motul 300v.Originally posted by satan69in View Postgot a mail from bajaj saying that maybe due to the use of motul 300v, that leakage is occurring ... the recommended oil grade is 20W40 and i was using 15W50

ooops am sorry guys...they said 20W50 only..its my typo error
heres the mail :
Dear Mr Thejus,
This has reference to the issue mentioned by you. The issue can be a resultant of wrong quality on oil (other than SAE 20W50 of SL + JASA MA ) or above, Defect in rubber part & or clogging of breather tube near air filter. Kindly show the bike at Vinayaka Bajaj.
Regards
RAHUL.
@ Ravi anna : how can motul be the cause..i mean others arent having any problem na...do you think i might have ripped it too much without giving any breaks??

P220 starts to drink oil, if you use 300v, once it has put up good number of kms on odo. Many bikes from the first lot that I know had this problem; Ravi Kiran's bike used to drink oil. Call him for some suggestion. I do not know about the current lot of P220s.Originally posted by satan69in View Post

^^ I have a P150 with similar issues with my front tyre that was some 20k kms old. While the threading was alright, the sides were cracked :S. It resulted in me having multiple punctures in the sidewall :S until I finally got it replaced!
I guess, unless those cracks are deep, it isn't much of a worry.

damn! I am pretty unlucky with puntures. I had like 6 on my last MRF (rear) and got 2 on Michelin Sirac already!
Any idea, where I can get a 120x80x17 tube? The guy I got it from, doesn't have it and doesn't know where to get it from

@satan: Those tyre cracks are normal. There is nothing extra ordinary about them. I have them on all of my old vehicles and they are running absolutely fine. No problem in that.
For the oil entering the air filter box, I am sure that you might have overfilled the oil which is causing the oil to escape through the breather tube.(or whatever it is called) My suggestion would be to change the oil and fill a little maybe 50-100ml less this time and observe. And yes, Valvoline is one of the best oils suitable to Pulsar's breed.

i am pouring in 1200ml of oil...i guess the stipulated amount is 1150ml...i use motul FS...isnt it actually better than valvoline??Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View Post@satan: Those tyre cracks are normal. so you are absolutely sure that those tyres wont be hazardous or give away in the middle of the highway at top speeds??? i can change them if i have to be on the safe side..

This time fill 1100ml and see if there is any difference. IMO, this should solve your problem. Yes, Motul have better oils available. But, I told that best suited oil to Pulsar breed is Valvoline. Motuls have prone to leaks in some Pulsars, but there is no case of abnormality shown by Valvoline oils in any Pulsars that I have came across.Originally posted by satan69in View Posti am pouring in 1200ml of oil...i guess the stipulated amount is 1150ml...i use motul FS...isnt it actually better than valvoline??

It's fine to ride the bike with those tyres. Unless untill they have finished their life (grip gone) you should keep them running.
