i had done that too.

here are some problems that arise if you do fit it directly, mine is open (not in a box, but its under the seat

fitting it directly onto the carb makes the air flow even more freely.. having it at a distance is better. otherwise it'd result in a very lean mixture and you might need upjetting. I get a top whack around 115kmph with the stock jets ... and im getting right now 47-52 kmpl when riding at 50-60kmph.

secondly its best to keep the air filter kind of protected.. rain is one of the main causes i had to take the filter inside (under the seat) .. the bike just shuts off cause the water enters the engine quite easily.

ill put up the pics of my system soon. needa have a cam first (even the basic cellphone cam

)

OT
it really doesnt increase the power, you have to do some serious mods in order to actually benefit the free flow filter, i do plan to port and go for a larger piston and camshaft mods, planning it out and then will see.

@sam92:Just call sugreev and inquire about the filter....Its better if you meet him, His workshop is at secunderabad.
And my bike has an aftermarket exhaust, and K&N r1060....If I rip the bike it Gives me around 30-34 kmpl and under sedate riding(Upto 50-60kmph) Gives me 37-42 kmpl...

you can start by installing NGK iridium spark plugs ..
RTR has become smooth

Ur bike is the scape goat for me

....let me see how ur bike performing for a few months and then i'll change to watever spark plug/ filters

it might be good initially .. but when it starts to wear and the bike starts to age .. thats where the hard part will come .. lets see how you will get through that sam ..

spark plug isnt connected to the sound of the bike in anyway .. and ya dude .. a word of advice .. remove your new spark plug and check after 800-1000 kms .. if the base has turned purple .. then your bike is not able to support those performance spark plugs .. and they need to be thrown ..

dude .. just so you know .. iridium spark plugs dont have any effect on the bikes smoothness .. the vibrations come from the bikes body .. not from the spark plugs ..

its just a feel good factor you have just cuz u know u have installed performance parts on your RTR ..

and regarding the filter .. well lets give it some more time .. and BTW why do eveyone think that ill screw my bike ? ,,its 6k km done and not a single problem .. still behaves the way it came from the factory ,,, if i wanted to F**** my bike i would have done it a long time .. i want performance with increasing my engines life .. there has not been a single complaint against KN ,,,

the cleaning fluid is in a spray can..you have o spray this on the filter untill its soaked completely and then drain the excess dirt...later...keep the filter for drying and apply the oil...
