Communication between rider and pillion
Recently I have taken up bit touring with my better half. But the problem I face is communicating with her. As both of us wear a full face helmet, it's difficult to communicate. I remember seeing a circuit diagram here on xbhp, which could be used for such communication. Does anyone have it, or some other suggestion (other than 'don't talk while riding'
)

myself. I have the exact same problem. I actually almost ended up in the Bandipur national park while going to Ooty
. Good that there weren't any side ditches. And she actually tends to doze off if I don't talk sometimes. So looking for a solution myself.
But until then, what I do is I tend to slow down or stop at a safe roadside every 20 mins or so, get refreshed and push off again.DoN\'t LivE tO DiE, dIe tO LiVe

Yeah I remember that thread which had the circuit diagram. But I don't remember anyone having successfully used it/reviewed it on the forum.Originally posted by animeher View PostRecently I have taken up bit touring with my better half. Best bet, but an expensive bet, would be to buy a Chatterbox system. Starts from $250 last time I checked. Works like a charm, and has integrated mobile handsfree and GPS support."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

Yes, I have seen the Chatterbox, don't really know how well it works... walkie talkie enabled helmets...
But as the saying goes, some of the best communication between two people happens when they are on two different bikes. Its a biker saying, not mine!The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Wouldnt it be simpler to just pick up a couple of motorola talkabout walkie talkies and attach headsets to that? The walkie talkies set cost about 7K or so. Dunno the price of the headsets. You'll get good range and can use rider-pillion, or rider-rider, rider-car, etc. They come in FRS channels (free) and GMRS (licensed) channels.

yes, but some sites are quoting even a lesser price for 2-pair velcro headphone sets for rider-passenger. Only problem is availability in IndiaOriginally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostWouldnt it be simpler to just pick up a couple of motorola talkabout walkie talkies and attach headsets to that? You need to ensure you get headsets with 'Push to Talk' buttons which allows the rider to continue to have hands on the bars. There are many available in the market and come with microphone/earpieces which velcro into full face helmet. I have tried 2 different sets but find the headset quality poor, but that could just be my old age and its getting hard to hear.Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostWouldnt it be simpler to just pick up a couple of motorola talkabout walkie talkies and attach headsets to that? Stewarch: Good to see you post man. And, I'm sure you mean VOX capability.. because you need to push the button in the P2T feature to activate the microphone. VOX is voice activated, and that's the one which you can use to keep your hands on the bars while talking.

Pranay's link seems to fit the bill perfectly.

For $49, its a pretty good deal I must say (if the set comes with all that's in the picture).
