Serious problem with apache rtr 180

Ok, I have a P180 so maybe some pointers can help:
1. Those MRF Zappers will kill your performance as they're softer compound than your TVS Stock tyres. If you want performance, get those TVS tyres back on your bike. Otherwise, the 100/90 might help a bit.
Currently, I have R15 soft compound tyres (80/90 and 100/80 x 17) which have killed the performance due to their stickiness.
2. Yes, a burnout kills the clutch plates of a bike slowly. To ensure less damage to clutch, you can try burnouts on floor, cement roads, muddy roads with less grip, etc.
I once did a burnout with front tyre on road, and rear on sands. Created quite a sandstorm. Its 17k and my clutch plates are still stock...
3. Even I had K&N installed. Now answer this: Did you replace/ enlarge the Main jet of your bike while installing K&N?
If so, firstly replace the main jet back to the normal #125 size from TVS SVC. Jet should cost around Rs. 100 or so. If you don't do this, Joel's kit will also not run on full potential.
4. Tappets can be done properly by the SVC guys only. Tell them to do it using the proper "tappet gauge".
Almost all problems that you are facing have been faced by me earlier (K&N, Tappets, Tyres, etc.). Got over them eventually except for those soft tyres.

your main problem of mileage and engine turning off is caused because of tight tappets as your engine is loosing compression through the valves. set it to company recommended value and your mileage and power loss problem will vanish.
Clutch plates getting burned so early indicates that you abusing the clutch or the clutch housing(bell) is damaged.
Timing chain doesn't get damaged on opening the head but it elongates due to continuous running and thus make noise. Although carelessness on part of mechanic can damage timing chain.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. but some points bro
1.which tyre to use.....the front i need superb grip to do stoppies im planning for a pirelli 90/90-17 cost rs 1900 here...................the rear one zapper is fine now but i dont want to change back to stock tvs can i use michellin pilot sporty 100/90-17 is it good for stunting and indian roads
2.Yea the clutch problem is no more now...as i have stopped doin burnouts....and i suspect tht in course of burnin the tvs tyre deliberately i fu**ed the clutch plate though i got it changed at 6.5k but was damaged since 2.5k
3.Had installed a 170 size jet for 1 week but it killed the mileage so i reverted back to stock and yes tht jet gave too much jerks after 9k rpm it just refused to redline thoug the acceleration increased now i have remove all the setup and tommorrow will be reverting back to a new stock bosch plug and power cable
4. the service guys are clueless here though will try getin them as techy as possible
5.Can u tell me where to source a p220's projector

Thnxx will get it set asap...though as of mow i just bought valve seal , both valves only i will tell the mech to not damage the timing chain though and yes no clutch proble as im runin on new clutch plate since last 500 kms,....its super smooth with yamahalube 20w40........but the problem im facing is the oil level is getting low very soonOriginally posted by sibun View Postyour main problem of mileage and engine turning off is caused because of tight tappets as your engine is loosing compression through the valves. set it to company recommended value and your mileage and power loss problem will vanish.

1. I had a K&n installed on my bike which i have removed since last 1 week due to blown top end
2. My bike runs on a 120/80-17 mrf zapper c, 90/90-17 zapper fs and with splitfire wires and bosch iridium spark plug
3. I always drive the bike at speeds b/w 60-100...nd change gears ar 7k rpm generally
4.I m using yamaha lube20w40 since the last clutch change earlier i was using valvoline 20w50 since 3k kms
5.Got the clutch plate changed 4 days ago and got yamahalube.....
now the problem with my bike is
1.there is some OIL LEAK from the head(Left side only) of the engine...
2.My bike dosent get above 8k in the 5th gear easily it takes almost 40 seconds to go from 8-9 in 5th gear but at lower gears there are no issues at all as the bike revs happily till 11k rpm
3.My filter box had been cut to install k&N earlier and now i have fixed the stock filter back and covered the are nicely with packing tape and glue
4.The Main problem im getting is that when i got my bike's tappet tightened from a local mechanic the AFR ratio got messed up and the bike's rpm stick from 3-2 while deaccelerating and as soon i hold the clutch the bike turns off....
5.I m getting a very low mileage of 30 kmpl on my riding where earlier i used to get 40 frm the same
6.Should i get to 100/90-17 tyres as im much more worried abt performance than grip
7.My carb is cleaned so no prbs with it and i have NO WARRANTY [COLOR=black]on my bike as i had installed a k&n and the svc refused for the warranty
So plzz help me asap im in Great Great Tension and yes if anypart to be changed then plzz mention tts average price too
Man o man
you'll face problem with pickup,severely
when the engine will heat up the bike wont rev freelly
You know why?
cause you put more dense oil in the engine, stick to 20w40.you're on 20w50,bike wont rev freely, pick up will be disastrous!
using glue and tape to fix the air filter isnt a good idea mate! better replace it!if you can install K&N,then you can buy the replacement of OEM
Get the AFR checked from SVC.
If you're so worried about grip, run on flat tire!
you can use 100/90,it'll reduce your mileage and increase pickup, reduce top end!Speak Less,Speak Wise!
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Ya im using 20w40mnow its good but once the engine gets hot the top end reduces to 108 it dosent get above it....while on 20w50 i used to touch 115 quite easily......
other points are ok but i guess 100/90-17 is a thinner tyre than the stock rtr 180's 110/80-17...so how will it reduce the top end and mileage bro....

Engine problem with apache rtr 180
my apache 180 has completed 16000 km and after it crosses 5000rpm it produces a noise from engine irrespective of gear. The pickup has also decreased much. The service center person told that there was problem with crank shaft and crank chain and needs to be replaced. My bike is the stock one and no modifications have done. Please suggest me an option whether to change them or is there any other alternative.

Yes that hints towards a possible issue with the crankshaft. Replace it ASAP!!Originally posted by venkatkiran03 View Postmy apache 180 has completed 16000 km and after it crosses 5000rpm it produces a noise from engine irrespective of gear. @Utkarsh
Even your RTR's issue somewhat points towards the same symptom. Get the crankshaft/bearing checked.

Sure will get it checked once the head is opened.....but my engine is supersmooth when its cool...but once i run for about 15 kms then its starts shivering....after 108...though yesterday my frend managed to do 122 on it with a pillion while i was strugling on his 160 hyperedge(with K&N ) at around 119.....so plzz could u tell me tht which jet size shld be used to upjet his 160 mileage is not an issue just want his top speed back...and can they be run on stock plug and cableOriginally posted by chicane1879 View PostYes that hints towards a possible issue with the crankshaft.
