Firstly, why do you go to SVC this often? Isn't the recommended service interval for Hunk every 3k?
Anyways, oil top-up is required only if there is drop in oil level.
Also, They are charging quite a bit for the oil.. Normally, regular mineral oils have an oil change interval of every 2nd service(i.e. 6k km). But these cost just 150-180/liter (And I think the Hunk needs just 900ml oil if I am not wrong). For 350/liter BAL supplys Semi-Synthetic oils at SVC. So, you may want to check the market for oils that don't cost as much because drain intervals for semi-synthetics are much higher than minerals and there is no use wasting money unnecessarily. A hundred bucks here and there add up to a lot of money in the long run.
If you still want to spend 350 bucks on an oil change, you might as well buy a good Semi Synthetic oil and run the bike for the 6k period(even till 9k if you want). At least the engine would be better protected.
Enjoy your ride. And ride safe.

As far as the additives are concerned, don't bother to use them unless and until specified in the user's manual. If the SC guy tells that your warranty will be voided then tell them to show it in the manual.
I recommend oil changes at every 2-2.5 k kms.
Note-First oil change at 500 kms.

Engine oil capacity for HUNK is 1.2L... I want to stick to 10w30...
My ODO reads 7.5K... Can I shift to SS or FS?? Or do I have to stick to mineral?
Which brand will be a good one???
1) Gulf Pride 4T Plus (mineral)
2) Shell Advance AX5 (mineral)
3) CASTROL ACTIV XTRA (Synthetic)
4) Castrol Power 1 (Is this mineral or FS or SS??)
5) Motul 3000 4T Plus (Mineral)
Please do suggest the right one for the HUNK

Yes , you can shift to synthetic now, no problem . Personally I'd prefer running 10k kms before it .
What is your riding pattern and conditions ? Oil drain interval ? km's per month ?
ps - please don't mind me saying so , you could easily have put this in the "engine oils" thread .

bro changing to fs will be a total waste of money. Because hunk is nt with the racing perspective thought its good. And imo fs oils are mainly good for tourers who need to keep the engine cool on a long ride.Originally posted by Bubbly View PostEngine oil capacity for HUNK is 1.2L... I want to stick to 10w30...

For ur riding conditions mineral oil is the best though u can shift to ss , thts totally up to u.
Best mineral oil option is the motul 3000 t or if u dont get the oil then buy the yamhalube 20w40 from a yamha svc.

My driving is in Chennai city traffic.... I am a sane rider... Maintains the 40-60 zone most of the time.... I would like to change the oil every 2k-2.5k kms interval (Currently HH SVC is changing oil at every 5k kms witha top up at 2.5k kms)... I cover around 800-1000 kms per month...Originally posted by Pinaki View PostYes , you can shift to synthetic now, no problem . Personally I'd prefer running 10k kms before it .

You dont need 1.2L of oil unless you strip down the engine. So if you drain oil through drain bolt, you need only 900ml of oil.Originally posted by Bubbly View PostEngine oil capacity for HUNK is 1.2L... I want to stick to 10w30...
You can try SS or FS oil,IMO Minerals are VFM.My ODO reads 7.5K... Can I shift to SS or FS?? Or do I have to stick to mineral?
Castrol Fakes are available in the market,So beware of it.All others are very good oils.Which brand will be a good one???

2) Shell Advance AX5 (mineral)
3) CASTROL ACTIV XTRA (Synthetic)

Then Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40.Originally posted by UTKARSH STUNTY SHARMA View PostBest mineral oil option is the motul 3000 t or if u dont get the oil then buy the yamhalube 20w40 from a yamha svc.Karizma Parts Manual - https://picasaweb.google.com/1010125...rizmaCatalogue

Hi buddy ,
Good day to all.
This would be my first post here in this site though i have registered long back. I would like to know few things here. First, yes i do follow u ppl while saying S-Syn. oils are best than Mineral oil and nvr go for F-syn oils. i would like to know that my 2003-model splendor is just 30K old on roads. I have not been maintaining it as dad was using it regularly & taking care. Recently, i have been very keen about few aspects to fall back which might have missed in his run with this bike. anyway, used ASC ppl have changed oils in my bike so i thnk they wud have used only mineral oil (HH10w30). So i also decided to make my first own oil change at home with 10w30.
i) Can i continue with mineral now or should i opt for S-Syn. ?
ii)if am not wrong..can i follow 1)every 6K - oil change 2) evry 2k - top up if reqd. ? as recommanded. OR can i follow wat u guys say, every 2.5K - oil change ?
iii) i think there is no oil filter in HH splendor model (not spld+) ? rt?
iv)is it true to say..change spark plug every 10K ?
v)is it sound to dismantle my carb. and service them at home? or shud i leave it in ASC? bcz i feel i will have to slowly service things on this bike and get this to its best soon. i have seen a classic photographic explanation of this ( if am not wrong it was here and again i think it was by Mr.PINAKI jhi but am not sure of that..) anyway, can anyone give me that link if thats here
vi) is it sound to use normal petrol if am planning to ride enough kms to burn off them at once ? or shud i use only shell petrol ( or any high qual. ) as i normally do..? hope u get me ryt.
Srry for all those ques. at one shot...but try to give an idea.
thank you.
