I used to ride Hero Honda Ambition with kick start and 2.5Ah battery. It has got DC lighting and one of the best lighting. I never faced any battery discharge problems and the first battery lasted for 3 years. I replaced that battery with an UPS battery with custom made case and its been 4 years and the battery is still going strong. I used a 55/60w normal bulb and the battery has no problems but the reflector got melted due to the heat. I met with an accident and I had a knee injury, so I exchanged my Ambition with my brothers Unicorn which has self start and I seriously miss the DC lighting of the Ambition esp at the slow turns. when I replaced the 35/35w bulb of the Uni with H4 55/60w the lighting got even worse. Only when I use the pass button the full potential of the 55/60w was evident. So I am considering to switch to DC lighting and I asked Hero Honda guys to give the wiring information from the shop/service manual which they denied. I don't want to sophisticate the process but simply follow the Ambition's wiring. Need help with the Idea.

Well i figured out the problem in my bike and I am against APE RR unit, probably the one I got was defective piece
When I installed and tested its output was between 12-13v but now its giving whopping 18+v and increasing with throttle. Thats the reason my Osram NB blew !!! Battery cells are all dead..!!!
Next week i will be getting new battery, now I am running on stock RR with my old 7ah battery with HID on DC and Spot light on AC.
Sajan - Will give u close up pic of spot light tomoro.

I had the same doubt with the RR and I shared with u on the very first post, bcz u said that the voltage was going up when disconected from the batt, means batt was acting as a buffer for sometime and it also got damaged due to this RR issue. Since its not an OEM, u wont get it replaced, u need to go for a new one and its a paint too.Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostWell i figured out the problem in my bike and I am against APE RR unit, probably the one I got was defective piece

Now for the OEM one I can't afford another 1100rs as mentioned in other thread.!!Originally posted by sajjt View PostI had the same doubt with the RR and I shared with u on the very first post, bcz u said that the voltage was going up when disconected from the batt, means batt was acting as a buffer for sometime and it also got damaged due to this RR issue. Its getting very costly affair.!!
Today early morning i rode for about 160kms which included 2hours of night riding. With stock electricals with HID ON i didn't feel battery went low even after that 2 hours, Self start worked like charm (Note its my 2 year old 7aH battery which was lying idle at home). I agree that rpm was always above 6k but even at that rpm's with my Osram NB battery would drain as its old battery which was idle.
Reg HID - I must say, its meant only for Highways on pitch dark road. Wow!!

But u've got the other option, junk
Well, an HID is only 35W compared to ur old ONB
Once its ignited it will take only 35W to sustain the power. But being with stock RR u've done 2hrs of drive with HID?
Surprising
Then why do u want to change the RR man? Stick to stock RR is more safe and reliable.
Which type is ur HID telescopic? (bixenon) or with a combi?Do it Yourself, what so ever, if Possible

Its a Bi-Xenon i.e low and hi both HID with glare shield just like you showed. But I have unscrewed and throwed the glare shield bcz I don't use HID in city limits.Originally posted by sajjt View PostAn OEM part is always costly, good things never come cheap man

I noticed 1 thing, if tried facing my light from opposite. Low beam gives too much glare but I could easily see the light with Hi-Beam.
Yup from now no more experiments on electricals, paid high time.
Have to change fuel guage unit (if i get separate) else whole speedo unit which will again cost whopping 1500rs !! Also got a warning from Dad to sell bike

Even I tried that without the glare sheild but the oncomers are staring me like any time I may get a slap on my face, and I also got convinced that it creates a hell of it to make them curse atleast. Even on highways, truckies were staring me by seeing the floodlight ride and even one fellow asked me what hell u've gotOriginally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostIts a Bi-Xenon i.e low and hi both HID with glare shield just like you showed. True, even with the glare sheild LB makes more glares than the HB, see my postings on projector thread. May be the bulb positioning limitations. So after spending for HID u also found that its waste of money
The most worst part is u cant use the H4 on projectors if u got any.
Oh no, dont give up man, try try until u succeed, try the junky thing. U didn't say about the RR swap. Y do u want to change the rr if the stock supports the HID?
What happened to the FG? usually the variac inside the tank gets damaged, check for that before u replace the console.Do it Yourself, what so ever, if Possible

Stock RR is supporting HID on highways but I am not sure it can support at low rpm's in city limits.Originally posted by sajjt View PostEven I tried that without the glare sheild but the oncomers are staring me like any time I may get a slap on my face, and I also got convinced that it creates a hell of it to make them curse atleast. Reg Fuel Gauge I am sure its the meter unit bcz I can see a bubble clearly that indicates something has burnt inside probably due to 18+ v !!!
I ve a idea to put projector for existing HID but I will ve to sacrifice High Beam HID which I don't want to.!! Projectors are useless for HIGH Beam and with my experience it gives good spread but also reduces intensity of light. I am 100% sure bcz I compared Rahul Devnath's hi beam (in parabolic lens) and low beam in projector. Projector's light intensity was low compared to Parabolic.
But High beam of p220 with H7 HID will make any oncoming vehicle stop n slap you. Its deadly !!! Its like a lightning straight into your eyes..

Shree check ur skoda lens without the sheild, and see the spread it will be fine spread but at the cost of oncomers nice "greets"Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostStock RR is supporting HID on highways but I am not sure it can support at low rpm's in city limits.

, but for flasing its good AFAIK.
Riding beam will be low, so stick the HID for LB and put halo for HB. 3" lens will offer a very good beam spread on LB, I've re positioned my lens and the result was very impressive. Even a 2.5" will do justice to a bike, remember Skoda is having small LB lens except on Laura. Putting HID on HB, u r losing the ablity to flash too.Last edited by sajjt; 01-12-2010, 01:36 PM.Do it Yourself, what so ever, if Possible

Sajan, let me see. Now not very much worried. Don't want parents to become angry
Btw I am not able to source fuel gauge inside meter unit so thinking to put classic pulsar meter unit as it ll suit well even if i put round doom.
Now what I want to know is, will the Pulsar Classic meter fit to Unicorn directly?? I mean in terms of wiring only.

U r a good junk yard hunter, and still not getting it?
I think its possible with some wiring mods as the connectors wont be std and both uses the analouge meters so it should work. Abhi what do u say?
Shree do u need a FG badly to remind u? I really pity about ur memory once u got a reserve status. No issues, u'll come to know once ur bike stalls
My FG's gone for a toss 2 years back due to the variac prob, and I dont think its that accurate and, I know when to refill before it gets dry

I use the trip meter instead.
About the wiring, check if Uni has CDI ignition. If not, tacho may not work.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

I am not dependent on fuel gauge but i don't like anything malfunctioning in my bike
I am thinking of Pulsar classic speedo bcz that matches the round doom very well than the stock Uni's. Anyways that is just a thought
I figured out that FG is available for 153rs, but no stock
Sajan here are the pics of my Neolite spot light.

Mine has gone years back, I didnt find that accurate, so I just neglected.
Ah, that spot seems good as its got MFR, if u remove the sheild its a real killer man, u'll've nice long beam + a good spread too. Just try that and pls revert back, I wanna try that. Am not satisfied with my present Autopal 3" spot its too sharp to poke the truckies, no light on roads, just like a laser beam. Urs is a foglamp and mine's just a spot lamp, not worth for HB, but it really does a splendid job for reminding some A$$*&^ with 4X100W
