if you build without permission they will make sure that the put it down in few days time....(society people get nasty sometimes)
plus it will b termed illegal construction...the authorities will serve notice....
better would b to convince the society committee members...
I got the same problem my bike got scratched also turn indicator broken because of these kids playing in parking area...they are nuisance

Consult a lawyer with xperience in society matters..there can b someway..bcz members will straight away deny u with a NOC
In mumbai i have seen people having car sheds in their premises but no idea about legality...

I can term it as a bike cover :P ... if I build it by welding the panels then if at all society take any action I'll have problem disposing it off... if I assemble it using nuts n bolts it won't be sturdy enough... damn :@ ... I thought about installing cctv instead but there is possibility miscreant could stole the cam too !!

in mumbai such covered spaces for vehicles attract xtra property taxes...i just googled the laws
the shed in the pic is nice for independent homes...
with cctv u can c the damage happening kuch nahi kar sakta...

It was smooth cut dude like the smooth surface you get when u use scissor or stripper, even the spark plug cable was cut
... This is tricky, never thought safety of the vehicle will be so tough even in your own residential building

I can understand your situation brother. The solutions I see are-
1. Have a private closed parking arranged within compound. This is very complicated - local laws, association involved, construction expenses and above all do you think you will use it to park your bike every time you take your bike out?
2. Make friends with kids who play within the compound and get along with them. Use a strong bike cover.
3. Install a branded anti-theft alarm system.

I read your post as my in-laws were having similar problems, though not with bike wiring harnesses
More to do with the theft of small bits of antique furniture. And this is what they did.
They collected the members of the society, the management committee etc and proposed that each member's car parking area should be enclosed within a cage. Each member, at one time or the other, had had problems of theft, vandalism etc so all members agreed.
Matters were simplified by the stilt parking of the society.
If you have open to the sky parking, some negotiation with the society would be needed. You have not spelt out the nature of your relations with the society - excellent/fair/rotten/murderous etc! I remember some relative of mine mentioning that a cage is a temporary structure so does not infringe construction bylaws. You will need to do the homework on this and ALSO update the thread for the benefit of others :-)Comment

Watchman wont do any good....
two days back my neighbours car windshield smashed in late night the watchman says no idea who did it...
its upto you to make the members understand your problem and who knows they may also face it someday..keep good relations and hope for the best...

There are watchmen n cctv installed in my society but both are of no use... cctv field view is so narrow n short that alto parked 20feet away fills the whole picture ...
With my few interactions with society members I found them stubborn and "my way or the highway" type... they are least interested in listening the problem of ppl let alone solving them... I wonder why these ppl act like if they are president or the dictator of a nation whem you give then simple responsibility of maintaining a society

As described earlier, this is the only least solution you could do. Atleast if your house is close by the parking, you can hear the alarm. And I don't think anybody would know if you have already installed it or not. When you use it, use it in silent mode. The wiring would go under the seats. You can also adjust shock sensitivity levels. Plus try using a fork lock or a disc lock in addition to it if you can. I stay at the top floor of 9 story building, So chances of hearing alarm are less ...

Dude my question.. Is it really worth to spend this much on cage for a 1-2L bike??? Those guys have superbikes for which parts costs a bomb. Its not the same here. I know it hurts when you see scratches or broken indicators or in your case cut sparkplug wire. But it costs few hundred bucks or maybe thousand. But building a cage like that will cost you 10-15k and in a apartment like yours... Hectic!!! My advice think of anyother solution although the cage looks cool,but sad thing not for apartments
