I am just doing my bit to get back my ride
I am going to Leh on Duke 200. Dropped the idea on my bike because it will be a close call. Just want the ride before I leave for Leh. Otherwise it ll be unattended for 3-4 weeks.
If the leads don't work, I ll surely buy K Seal. Could you help me with the link for 25$ one sealant.

Why do get such a notion. All my work were/are done at SVC. For lathe work, SVC has tie ups with dedicated shops. You can see Yamaha mech(typical Yamaha uniform) in the pic. It was done as per his specifications.

Dude lapping compound(in my case rubber paste meant for head gaskets) was used initially. That didn't help. So just working on other leads.

Are you confusing lapping compound with sealants?

Both are different, one is commonly used while seating valves and the other to seal crankcases.

I still suspect the bore though, try swapping the cylinder with the stock one.

Last weekend traveled to Bangalore and rode back on my friends Duke(borrowed for Leh ride). On Friday, we tested the RC big bore after facing stuff done at lathe. After testing, we still found minor leak.
Today we are testing the stock bore and I am hopeful pre matured hair line crack in RC big bore is the culprit. Also, ordered K Seal, so that if nothing works, I ll have a savior.

Well I am back from Bharat Bhraman.11 states, 2 UTs, 24 days, 7450 Kms on two wheels. Met innumerable good folks on the way.
But this was done on loaned Duke. I need to lay low for a while. Meanwhile the coolant sealant has come. I need to resume on my bike once I have proper rest.

The problem is finally fixed. Tested the bike for 400 kms after replacing the cylinder block and there is no more leakage. As I bought K Seal , I used it(poured it into radiator). Initially the bike fan use to engage more often than normal, but after a bit of usage(100 kms), the bike runs normal and fan kicks in only in heavy traffic. Yesterday, inspected coolant and engine oil and both were fine. All's well that ends well. Posting a pic of K Seal.



So the complete analysis is -
1) Suspected blown head gasket- Changed twice. Negative.
2) Busted O rings and gaskets of Water pump. Changed entire water pump. Negative.
3) Lapped head and block surfaces at lathe machine and checked. Negative
4) Suspected pre-mature crack in Race Concepts bore. Switched to stock bore. Voila it worked.
5) Last culprit, incase bore was not an issue- Cracked head.

After, switching to stock, I had to get the tappets adjusted properly. Currently using mineral oil and observing the setup and run-in for next 2 full tanks. The bike is running a bit rough with mineral oil and there are vibes on fuel tank. I am hoping the setup will settle down in next 2 fuel tanks and after using FS oil. Thanks all for the pointers.

Good gracious your bike is fine now. I really do respect your efforts. These efforts are rare to see nowadays. In such an event regular joe would have sold his ride away and I bet, you would have faced with many such suggestions too already.

I too am going to use that Kseal in my cager this week. It's loosing half a liter coolant over 100 kms. But before that I'll flush the cooling system first.

And I hope you're writing something on your bharat bhraman.

The O-rings of the water pump was busted so now replaced the complete water pump, Now the mech says its fine. Will be collecting my bike this weekend. How long should i ride before i check the oil and stuff, Also what all should i be checking?

Thanks for the pointers. I am happy that I got useful leeds and finally the problem is fixed. I ll prefer selling my bike after fixing the problem rather than duping someone.

With Water pump changed, I hope your problem is solved, considering you have already switched to stock bore and have changed gaskets. Atleast you need to run the bike for 70 kms and open the water pump to see whether fluids are exchanged on either side. Otherwise u are requirered to ride your bike a minimum of 150 kms. You can than simply inspect the engine oil using a dipstick(to check for slimy mixture of engine oil and coolant).

Incase, the changed pump doesn't help, get the faces of bore and head lapped. Last bet would be changing the head. However, I had conversation with most senior mechs and the lead mech and as per their experience, they never came across cracked head. Seriously, the quality of stock diasil cylinder and head, is way better than any after market options.
