• How to identify Engine of TVS RTR 180/RTR 160

I recently bought an engine of TVS APACHE RTR, but I am not sure if its a RTR-160 or an RTR-180

I looked for clues on engine but I am unable to find it written on engine so far that how much cc the engine is.

Can any one guide how to Identify the engine?

This is the actual picture of engine:

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

It is etched on engine cylinder generally, or you can check rpm - gear - speed with a RTR 160 or 180 to confirm your query

yes I was expecting the same but I thoroughly checked it but was unable to find any clue grooved on it.. but I am so obsessed with RTR that as soon as I saw it I just bought it from the yard seller.

I will share close up pictures when I go to home today.. may be there is some clue..

            Hi dude,

I dont know about RTR's but will try to help you

By observing the pics, it has 14T Sprocket which the RTR 180 will be having according to our xbhp threads

            http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...sprockets.html

If the previous owner haven't altered the sprocket, it might be RTR180.

            Also from this site, http://www.motoroids.com/reviews/tvs-apache-rtr-180-facelift-review-specifications-pics-top-speed-price-details/
the block was embossed with D6, the same on your engine can be seen.

Mostly yours is an Newer 180.

In some pics for RTR 160, i think there will be specifcation of xxx cm3 (cubic cm) below TVS logo which is missing for an 180.
            like http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attachments/motorbikes/1262372d1405512197-sad-story-my-tvs-apache-rtr-2014716125847-medium.jpg

and also 160 has a single round/cirlce logo (having numbers in it) where as the 180 has two of it (above D6).

Another thing you can do is to get hold a damaged RTR160 piston(i think its easy to find it) at any mechanic shop and open your bikes engine head and compare it directly with just looking at diameter of both pistons. It will reveal whether its an 180 or 160.. Hope this helps

apachefan I paid 6500INR for this.. it was basiclaly a burnt bike completly burnt from feul tan and fenders.. but the engine was intact and saved completly... you can notice the burnt carburator falnge which gives clues of fire..

The enigne got lucky and powered a YBR

One of my old buddy rider with his brand new 2016 Model YBRg was planning to power up his YBR, So one fine day we swapped Stock 2016' YBRG with a Apach RTR 180 this Engine which was resting in my stash for quite a while now...

sambit the exhust note was moderatly loud, but it was what he liked the most, bike was happily crossin 100kmh with in 10seconds some times even better ..

the top end wsa the best of all improvments as YBR125 hardly used to cross 100kmh~105kmh but not it was escalated easily above 125kmh~ with engine reving in a happy range.

Front Sprocket was 17' tooth with 428 chain type.

fat tire on rear, other then that bike was all stock YBR-G
