dude, i know what my bike is capable of and P220s are gettin zapped here in chennai ppl here in chennai have ridden my bike and they are quite awestruck too..

Ganesh: With all that extra torque and power, ur bike is bound to loose its clutch plates sooner. I was running the P150/180 V1 clutch and they used to conk off every 10 - 12K kms against the stipulated 18K - 20K. Am not sure of the 200 clutch plates. But how long has it been since u changed ur clutch plates? Did u change the pressure plates and clutch bell along with that? Else try doing that!

the entire clutch kit was changed to the classic 180 kit... the slotted one and holes were drilled into the clutch bell... this lasted me for around 500kms.. the clutch used to slip once i crossed the 5k rpm... after 5k rpm.... the tacho literally shoots to above 7k within no time and speed was gradually increasing(definitely faster than a stock 150 though).

now i've put the 200's clutch kit and upto 7rpm i cant feel a thing(done another 500kms now)... the engine is smooth until i rev up till here...(reaches 90 at 7k) but after this there is a very small quantity of increase in speed around 15kms, the tacho reaches 9k and after that, say till just after 10, its just the engine which is running, no effect on the speed... so on road it does:

          90 at 7k
          100 at 8k
          105 at 9k
105 at 10k...(all these in the final gear)

i have one doubt here... is it because of the 150's speedometer i'm gettin such values? the bike is actually performing but the speedometer console leading me to wrong directions? and also after a 100, there is drastic shaking in the speedo needle...

the bike reaches 0k-8k in a jiffy and at 100kmph, there is no vibration of any sort, just as the tacho crosses the 8k point, every problem one can think of kicks in..!!

i still had some reserve throttle left with me, as already in the redline, i didnt want to push it...

Run side by side with a 200/220 and u can find the issue. The speedo/tacho assembly cud have conked off too. Also why did u drill holes on clutch bell and stuff? The existing one is very good!

the stock ones are good... no regrets there... but i wanted the clutch to be more responsive.. i jus needed to tap the clutch lever and the gear would be engaged... and no experiments done to the 200's clutch yet..

and i checked the speed with a 180UG3.. mine was showing 60 and his was at 63... since it showed only such a small change, i also changed the speedo cable... still no change...

^^That sounds weird. In all probability ur speedo should show a higher value than the Pulsar's digi speedo!

and that is when i got a doubt that my speedo is at fault.... a few weeks back i was fiddling with my speedo console... opened it up and was experimenting(a failed attempt to plonk in some LED's instead of the normal 3W bulbs)... but i didnt douch any of the mechanical stuff inside... was jus working with the bulbs.... could that have triggered something?

@dream horse: thanks bro! bike's doin really well..... does 0-100kmph in a whooping ~8-9secs!(mind counting ) man, its really FAST!.. i could chew the happiness of countless 220 Fi's and a couple of R15s(crappy driving i suppose!) here in chennai

first gear cut off is at a remarkable 11k! the bike does a max of 120kmph @ 8k rpm and hits a brick wall... sprocketing(16 and 42), k&n installation will be done mostly this week.... waiting to complete the 4k mileage mark.... once done, i suppose i could do more on the higher end...

currently running on motul 20W50 and will be shifting to the fully synthetic oil from motul.

the speedometer was faulty and got its assembly replaced... talks goin on for a 220's swing arm...

has the 220 dtsi been launched, i mean has it come on the road? if so, i'm eagerly waiting for it..

PS: any idea of what carb its running on?

as for the k&N see that u have a ample amt of low end coz u will lose out low end....
but mid range & top end will be good....

new '09 p220 has UCAL USD 32 venturi carb....... ya but the booking is not in card hope so but they offer test ride on road (ask specifically) & in dyno

i hope if spare arrives go for one but check the jet size...........

wat abt the heat generated by ur babe.

i didnt quite understand this.... isnt k&n mainly used to improve low end

initially heat generated from the bike was just unbearable, i could feel it on my ankles.. i just couldnt touch the brake lever without slippers or shoes and bike was drinking engine oil!! thanks to the first clutch plates i installed and also i was running on a 150's carb without jetting ... but after installing the 200's, there is definite improvement..

hey how abt ur fork assy does it withstand the dynamic force of the bike...

as this is a big engine...........

i have one more doubt can i use the new 150 gearbox/crank case with this p220 crank r do i need to change the cases to accommodate the crank.....

no K&N will not improve low end it gives u a slight bump in midrange & topend.....

fork assembly has been internally modified...
i went for the 220's gearbox because of this reason... if u want to install the crank of 220 onto a 150's gearbox, u need to alter the crank.... the whole idea of a long stroke is lost here....

                                EDIT:

i dont quite think this could be correct... it improves low end torque... in the latter stages, it provides nothing but a loud grunt and if not properly upjetted, screws up your valves...
