I had got rid of the kick long back when I got rearsets installed on my 180. the rearsets are from the 200. The kick couldn't move all the way and used to hit the footrest making it impossible to operate. So I just got rid of it..why carry useless weight

AFAIK since decomp mechanism is absent on this camshaft there will be crazy back kicks. Decomp mechanism holds the exhaust valve spring decompressed so that while kickstarting the charge can escape to prevent back kicks.

Since the heads of the P150, P180, P200 and the P220 are all the same in basic structure, this camshaft can be used on any of the above. I am strictly talking about the 150 UG3 and the 180 UG3 and later. I hold no responsibility for any failures on any of the bikes. Also I don't know if the camshaft fits on older gen pulsars.

          • @Tornado: I really don't know bro. Never had a kickstarter in place since the mod.
@Swaroopce: You need to ride my bike to see the difference

this mod can be done on any DTSi pulsar.

You wont regret it dude. you can erase the thought of removing it.

yes, you can get a kick installed. But you need to incorporate the valve decompression mechanism. Infact, I have a kicker installed.

              • incorporating a valve decomp on the 220F camshaft will be a bigger pain in the rear than getting rid of the kickstarter

@Swaroopce: The mod is completely reversible as it is a mere bolt-on swap job. But once you get it installed you will never ever want to remove it.

@Everyone: The bike runs a little bit on the lean side with this camshaft. So a little bit of carb tuning is necessary. I think just the a/f screw adjustment will suffice. I don't know about it as I got a K&N and larger jet installed the same week as the camshaft installation. So didn't experiment with the carb a/f screw. You guys however can get it tuned easily with just the screw.

So after getting this mod in my bike, is carb tuning is a must ??

                        @Pavanchirmade

How much KMPL you lost after putting the camshaft (i.e all these mods)

by the way a pulsar camshaft looks like this :

But the 220F's Camshaft wont have the Decompressor , so the section with the spring you are seeing here wont be there in that ...

                            • Thats exactly what I have in my cupboard right now. The little spring and all that bullshit near the left side bearing in the picture is the valve decompressor assy.
That shit is absent on the 220F as the 220F was never available with a kick starter. The decomp is useful only for the kickstarter. This decomp does the same job as the decomp lever on a RE Bullet. I have some pics taken on my shitty 2MP cellphone camera. But if you look at those pics I am not responsible for the damage caused to your eyes because of the hideous blur that is in those pics

Thanks for all those pics and explanations.... Guys , this is the first time saw a few pics of wats exactly inside the head ...

Anyway , should we change the timing chain once we fix this mod in that place ...

I can see that its a direct fit in the engine.., then why cant this bajaj guys carry out this in all 150's and 180's ??? To increase the performance ??

Will it reduce the life of engine and increase wear ??
