I have a 2012 Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge model with 26k on odo. I did not use my bike for almost 1 year as I was away. After coming back I tried to start the bike but it gave a lot of trouble and somehow I took it to the TVS service center nearby. The mechanic, after the service, told that carburettor should be changed as I had not started the bike for 1 year and the petrol that was stocked inside damaged the whole carburettor. It was very weird. Then I took my bike home.

Now my bike is giving me a weird problem. It runs as usual but at around 3k rpm it does as the bike doesn't move when it is running out of petrol, it jerks and then moves. The actual Apache performance is not there and he said this problem is because the carburettor is not in a good condition. And the petrol leaks from carburettor and its drain pipe.

Is it possible? What maybe the problem?

                Please help.

Guys carb was completely cleaned but still the same problem persist. So one of the mechanics told to change the main and slow jet of the carb. I will replace and check.

Bike is not starting at all now. I don't know what's the problem. Carb is cleaned completely. Jets are yet to come. But at one kick it starts and engine is shut off, again it doesn't start at all. Spark plug changed. Current flow is checked. But no use.

                                Re: Petrol leakage from carburetor

Well, I would suggest you check with carb float valve. Usually these are symptoms when you experience the throttle dip and even leaks.
If the float valve is worn, the petrol will get flooded on the bowl and result in chocking. The flip side is, the float might not return to it's position hence it would cut off just below the jets.

That float valve looks like a small screw with pin like, moves down on a spring when you press.

While checking the carb, replace the gasket/packing as well.
