Twin Headlight on Yamaha Fazer...

it asked a mechanic in yamaha service center and he just took 2 minutes to make both lights glow at high beam and 1 at low beam. I paid just Rs.30. I don't have any problems after modifying. don't ask the sales person in the showroom. ask the mechanic in the service center. he'll do it. and I just noticed that there are 2 filaments in the low light bulb. 1 glows at low beam and the other one at high beam along with the other bulb. Does high beam bulb also have 2 filaments or just 1? because I can see only 1 glowing.

My Fazer has both lights on, in high or low beam, STOCK!
Bought in Vietnam= export model??? Might very well be.
I did not know it was to that extent, but I can see on this forum that Indian people are nearly obsessed by mileage. That's OK: everyone does what he wants!
What however has to be rectified is this question whether the battery will or not be able to cope with the extra load of both lights on simultaneously? This is a wrong question: it is NOT the battery that matters, but the alternator. If your battery is drained more than what the alternator can supply, it will get flat. If one has a bigger battery, it will take longer, that's all. If the alternator is able to supply more - or equal - what is consumed, the size of the battery does not matter. This should be the case as the FZ16 alternator delivers 14 VDC, 125W @ 5,000 rpm. From what I can see on my bike, unless I stupidly keep my headlights on while stopped at traffic light, the alternator effectively copes with the demand without any problem.
The thing, however, is that the alternator will then ask more power from the only source that can supply it: the engine. Then, the mileage will decrease. Not what you guys like
.
Foreigners (Vietnam): we don't care for a few miles more or less when we we already had to pay 200% import tax!!!
Me: I care even less: going to have twin projectors, soon
(costs 250 US$= 15% of the price you paid for your whole bike in India...!!!
)

I am also on the lookout for projectors.Mind sharing what brand/kind of projectors you are gonna use? My stock headlamp focus has been faulty since my purchase. Moreover, I am very happy with the awesome HID I had on my previous ride (Pulsar 135LS). Am sure I don't need to change the battery, right?Originally posted by Lucky Luke View PostMe: I care even less: going to have twin projectors, soon

By the way, have you noticed that the left and right reflector designs are not the same on the Fazer.Look carefully..you'll notice.
P.S.: My neighbour works at Audi showroom..So somehow trying to source the awesome projectors of Audi A4 for my ride. But will they fit easily?

Man you are damn lucky guy....but this issue is really predominant in Fazers in India....long rides do not provide sufficient illumination at night...so was a lil bit confused...but guess may go for HID or high power Halogens now...Originally posted by Lucky Luke View PostMy Fazer has both lights on, in high or low beam, STOCK!

It is very simple. First find the wire which connects to the headlamps along with the sockets and remove it(it comes out along with the parking lamp holder) . you will notice blank connector for High beams on the left side socket and blank connector for low beams on the right side socket. Buy 2 wire clips and insert them in the blanks. get some wires and connect the wire clips according to the beams. you have to tamper the original wires. Done .. now you have both bulbs in low beams and high beams.Originally posted by vimal_hbk View Postcan v get any DIYs for making both the headlight work at high beam? for FAZER

Re: Twin Headlight on Yamaha Fazer...
I have modifiied my yamaha fazer twin bulbs to glow simultaneously with just a wiring trick (done in ASC of Yamaha in Kolkata) and it costs only INR 200.
But, The twin Bulbs of Osram 35w is invisible in street lights. I gonna switch it to White lights of Philips 55w soon. If anyone tried, please discuss.Regards
Saikat
