  • [Help]: The Saree Guards and the RVMs

    Hi everyone,
This has been disturbing me a lot since the launch of a few bikes now.
The saree guard is compulsary on any bike which is launched in India.
My question, is it compulsary only while selling or even while riding at any point of time?? What if we only ride solo??

Coming to Rear View Mirrors( RVMs), are they also compulsary? I remember the RTO who gave me my licence telling me that there is no complusion to have an RVM fixed, but in case cops bust you for this, "it depends how u convince them"

Sareeguard is compulsory for the manufacturer while selling the bike.
RVMs are compulsory for the rider while riding the bike!
      Hope you got my point!

there is no law against riding w/o a sari guard.

        and pls don't ride w/o a RVM!!!

        btw i have a Q!
what is the use of a sari guard for bike that don't have a foot rest for ladies sitting facing one side?i.e why have a sari guard for a bike in which no one can sit wearing sari?

          ya i agree with sarvajit
according to the indian law, each bike should be manufatured along with saree guard, after that you may remove them.
But issues of RVMs exist in some cities.

Well Of late I have been riding with the RVM's only. Feel more secure. And after the unfortunate incident which happened to our beloved friend this weekend, I have vowed not to remove them.

Yes! But only on the LEGAL ones in India.. I doubt people outside India have even seen something like a saree guard..

btw, I guess you meant Honda Fireblade..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

The use of Saree gaurd depends according to the ladies who sit as pillion, but true that some bikes have Saree gaurds with no footrest's...Whats the use of that?

RVM is very necessary as it is compulsory and more importantly for our own safety.

i feel rather than saree guard, the RVMs should be made compulsory for all bikes, and challans should be issues for the bikes which dont have em.

Guys give weird answers from, it hampers their riding style ( as if they have all round vision), to it looks ugly, to they dont use it much, to that it puts a glare in their eyes in the night.

One word to em, assh()les. RVMs are important, and im sure everyone will agree that they should not be done without. If not for anything, they will let you know whats coming up behind man.

i know of an incident that happened in faridabad, two boys in school, on a ZMA, no rear view mirrors, took a blind u-turn in the middle of the road without looking behind, there was a truck coming at full speed, crushed on the spot.

PLease use RVMs, i cant stress the importance enough.
