I FOUND Out in some website

i use a mixture of kerosene and coconut oil
      in 2:1 ratio(kerosene:coconut oil)

i mix it and then pour it into colin bottle so i can spray all over the chrome parts
      ,

i used WURTH Anti rust spray
      it works well

      and after using the Wurth
      i started using this mixture
      and it works quite well
u only need to clean it every morning gently

because if we clean it hardly the mixture will go away

      just try this at home
      it works wonder
      trust me guys

Both, Wurth Rust Guard & 3M Multi-Purpose Lubricant cum Rust Penetrant are equally good and not expensive at all.

I guess since the application is for your Free Flow Exhaust which gets really hot, you will need a product that can withstand that kind of heat and still stay on the chrome and protect it.

I suggest you try Autoglym Engine Lacquer which is available in India for Rs.499/- from www.autoglym.in

Clean all dirt & rust from the muffler using a good household cleaner which is not sticky nor oily and apply Autoglym Engine Lacquer. Thats it.

That stuff on eBay seems like nothing more than a mixture of Glass Powder and Caustic Soda. Its available outside some railway stations in Mumbai for Rs.10-20. My friend used it years ago. It simply strips the chrome of all rust and exposes it to all kinds of abuse. This will also make the chrome rust faster than before. I suggest, avoid it. IMO, Rs.499/- for a professional, dedicated, international product is definitely not expensive.

Thanks Omega. Checked www.autoglym.in but couldn't find Autoglym Engine Lacquer details/price. Do I need to mail them for the details.

Also any hands on experience of Autoglym Engine Lacquer. Another option I got to know was rechroming. But rechrome is a hectic, time consuming but very effective solution. Any suggestions.

I emailed them and they promptly replied with a pricelist of all their products. Since they are close-by, to where I reside, I picked up the stuff myself.

Its popular with most car detailers for engine detailing due to its durability. Rechroming, like you mentioned, is indeed time consuming and if not done by the right people using the right (complete) process, its not an effective solution. Down South, I had come across excellent chroming centres but not in my City or Mumbai.

is there any anti rust element available in market to apply in our bikes?

                      Removing RUST:

I am going to give you various ways rust can be removed. If the rust is quite old or if it has marked its territory deep, then the best thing to do will be to chrome plate it again so that it doesn’t eat the steel.
                      1. Aluminum Foil:
Well you never thought of this right. Try this. Take Aluminum Foil and wrap it
around your finger and rub it until the rust disappears. Ensure that the shiny
side rubs the rust. Works on basic to medium rust.

Tip -Dip the Aluminum Foil in COKE for best results

                      2. Zinc Chloride or Chalk Powder:Soft rust can be removed by applying zinc chloride or chalk powder. Wet a piece of cloth and dab some powder and apply on the rusted area. Rub it until the rust is removed.

                      3. TEA
This again works for soft to medium rust. Prepare real think strong tea. Let’s say you should use 5 tea bags for 300 ml of water. Ensure it brews enough and that’s the crucial part. Now let it cool for 5-10 mins. Now soak the rusted part in the Tea for 2-4 hours or until the rust disappears. Wipe it, dry it and apply polish to it. Voila is sparkling.

Okay how does this work…see basically Tea contains tannic acid which attacks the rust.

                      4. Rubbing Compound:
This is used widely but I am little worried because if not properly used it can eat the metal. Go to any paint store and buy some rubbing compound. The rubbing compound is an abrasive which basically eats RUST and sometime the metal also. Dab some compound on a cloth and rub it in the rusted part till the rust disappears. Now wash the area with mild shampoo and dry it. Apply some petroleum jelly and wipe it clean after one hour. This neutralizes any residue of the compound. Now polish it. Well keep watching this page I will give detailed study on Rubbing Compounds.

                      Some Rust Removers:

                      WD40 - Rust Remover / Multipurpose Lubricant
Rustlick 631 DEF11 – from ITW signode India LTD

                      Preventing Rust:

Option 1: Apply a mixture of 1:2 Coconut Oil: Kerosene using a spray gun or Sprayer.
                      Option 2: Apply petroleum jelly.
Option 3: Mix 1 part of Anhydrous Lanolin (Any pharmacy or chemical shop) with 5 parts of Paint Thinner. Apply this mixture using a brush. This will form a preventive coat.

Check these tips and they will help ur lovable bikes from Rust!!!!!!

                            Hey guys!!

Thanks a million for this thread.
Took a tube of lime( chunna) from my local panwala and applied a wet mix to my chromed engine guard. Gently rubbed the same with aluminium foil and washed with water. All the superficial rust GONE!!!!

Have sprayed some laquer (BOSNY clear coat) from a can to protect the surface.will keep an eye on this to see if the rust comes back..
