im budging in here with this query as my posts couldn't garner enough attention in the "what bike" section.. fair enough ill start with a lil recap
recap-->> Got sick of my 6 year honda dio's fuel economy .. "wifey" is acting a lil pricey with regular fuel bunk trips.. no doubt it had been a useful ride carrying almost anything across any terrain or incline but being a loosely maintained gearless we had to get a good supplement bike sooner or later
the main purpose was to gift my kiddo brother a good decent package with easy on the pocket fuel average packs a punch with looks..
we started out search with the "twister" offering a good bang for the buck with space age looks and engine refinement moved on to a bit of "jiving" bt left with a sour taste as it hardly felt like a bike and worse than plan jain looks my brother would have kicked the bike into river gomti
so "twister" was chosen cheque book drawn out of the car glove box but then the eureka moment hit me .. nd m glad it did.
a black pulsar 135 had zipped past across the road as we were oogling ona blue cb .. and that was it!!!
a short zippy test ride and the biking heritage kicked in .. dad who has been a proud owner of java's in his 20's thought the cb looked "halki" and "plastic" and even though he preferred the old school pulsar's all black looks for his young son the red 135 seemed a better choice with its nimble movements and price worthy looks a complete vfm
so few days back i drove back home with a red devilish pulsar with my brother grinning from ear to ear
obviously stupefied with what he was resting his bum on..now back to planet earth... have driven 200 kms .. have been noting a decent fuel economy .. lovely torque and a nice 0-60 feel a far cry from the dio .. obviously have been trying to keep our wrists in control until the run in period gets over
now the query session
- ive been keeping this steed under 4000 rpm whereabouts with occasional bursts of 60 0r 65 as i heard it helps in better sealing of the engine if seniors [pro bikers] would advice against it im all ears.. i want this bike to serve me long and faithfully so will follow run in guidelines religiously
- visual mods-- im never to satisfied until i get the aestehtics right .. the bike looks a scorcher from side on with the tail giving a punch but .. i plan to remove the saree guard and the tire hugger if people confirm with it.. ive been advised against it cos the back sid emight look skinny all thoughts welcomed.. besides a red tape around the inner circumference i was planning on spray painting the engine black a black and red combo adds to the visual appeal IMO.. again if this idea doesnt confirm with sound logic im game.. ill end this query with an appeal of any advice on easy on the pocket visual mods which i can implement without making the bike look garish are eagerly awaited
- since there is no "what helmet' section i m pitching it here.. as i stated earlier elsewhere im a big fan of moto cross type helmets.. besides being a sucker for a cool stickering job.. colours that i would like would be red with yellow stickering.. white with red stickering.. or a matt black finish.. since im a noob with such knowhow .. i was thinking if members here could guide me to a particular brand .. which is easy on the pocket ..members from lucknow if you know of a decent value for money shop from lalbagh area please do comment
thats it im done with all the noob questions
thanking you in advance
wilco
still. keeping the blue side up
cheers
