Nano its really nice whatever you've done with your bike.
Suddenly I've got a craving for a dual 65w halogen setup. Maybe i'll go for the rewind and the APE RR mod. As you live in Bhandup you can help me out with places if not help me in person. I found a guy dealing in winding wires only. he has a dedicated winding store in Dombivli and i found a guy who does motor and Fan windings. Lets see if i'm able to get this done from them. How much 19 gauge wire to buy[quantity]? and how to wind? alternate clockwise and anticlockwise right?
,so finally.you are also infected by the light bug!!
    good,happy for you.
by the way its 55/60 watt not 65 watt.two of them in high beam will be very nice on highways if proper reflectors are used then a car like illumination can be achived which is tooo good and all we want in highway rides.go ahead and do it.and i think the bcu and switches also can be retained.how r are you planning to use two bulbs ,please clarify,i mean where you want to place them, crash guards?.

i am also on process to change my normal foot pegs to rear sets like yours, any special tip you want to give?

    • I was planning a Triumph like twin round headlight setup.Or if that's too complicated, a single round headlamp from the ambassador. The reflector on my stock headlight is getting cooked by the HID. Doktor you'll get all the information about rearsets here
Wanna know whats wrong with your bike or or looking for the best mechanic in your town? Ask here!

Also go for the 200 handlebar which is a normal bar like the 150's but shorter in height, else you'll experience lower backaches with just the rearsets. The rearsets need to be coupled with the 200 handlebars. The mod is not that expensive.
And I am thinking of retaining the BCU and the stock switches. I have had a bad experience with the cutting and splicing of wires on my bike. They tend to give away midway.

          dude.
if you are going for ape rr, and coil rewinding (FULL DC) then why don't you go for hid?

it can beat a 100w bulb effortlessly.
I've used a projector low beam which has a cut off, when my high beam is on, it lights the area above the cut off.
that 55w high beam halo, looks like a candle light in front of the 35w low beam hid....

yes i can very much help you out.
by now i am sooooo experienced in coil rewinding, that i can rewind a coil with 19 gauge wire at-least 12 feet per pole all by myself.

see weather it can be done by your winding person, if not come down to thane, I'll accompany you and we'll get it done.

that's too much of light in case of reflectors and I've personally experienced a scenario.
          a dude (politically connected)
has an R15. he has changed to HID's, its very blue, maybe more than 6000k.
          but its not purple.

his light is very very scattered.
last night i was riding, he was ahead riding and there was a point when both of our beam collapsed.
i have a Single beam 4300k and he had dual one's on.
i could see my yellowish white light overlapping his blue light effortlessly..
the spread was also magnificent in my case compared to his...

IF YOU HAVE COMPLETELY ROUND HEADLIGHT only then you can neglect projectors..

Man I already have an HID and I hate the white light it spits. I want yellow lights coz my white light is all washed out in the yellow light from oncoming vehicles

Photos (with dual tube HID) will be up by today evening. I have clicked them but due to internet break down was unable to upload. I will do it once I reach home evening.

BTW a bad news, I had to switch to telescopic single tube HID with glare shield as the glare with dual tube was HELL. I myself couldn't stare at it from very short distance. That would make me think twice to ride inside city limits.

@Abhi - Have plonked the HID on my street (inside yellow Neolite ) and rode for around 2 hours+ stock wiring. Didn't feel any hitch with self start nor horn I want you to check with it once regarding charging rate and do we need to rewind or not !!!

I may add with ZIP Ties (Cable Ties) to make the joints secure from any type of shocks or vibrations. Its just 15/ for 100pcs. I've used a no of ties inside my fairing which give me peace of mind and a neat look too. My mechanic's become a fan of this once he happened to see this arrangement.

I've the same doubt once you clarified that ur HID's not having a shield. Surely u can expect nice greets from the on comers. No need to get rid of it, u can fabricate one with alumn sheets. There are many threads on building a customized glare shield.

                    • I've seen some cars having hid which glows instantly.
last night when i was flashing my high beam at a turn to indicate that i want to go, a car was coming from the front, it was a lancer but that guy had installed projectors.

i could see him, turning off his HID and not just shifting his shield.

he turned if off/on/of/on withing 2 secs and the bulb glew to full intensity every time the switched on, just when he started...

                      exactly like halogen.
                      how does that happen??

                      why don't i have it?

There's no HID glows at its full brightness at startup unless the tube is warm. If ur HID is warm it will lightup without any delay, like if u switch off and on within 1 minute diff will be very less, so the shorter the gap better the illumination at startup. My HID hardly takes 2-3 secs if its on witin 1-2 min. He must've swapped the beam just few secs before u've seen.

U mean Thunder Bird RE right? Is it a full DC bike? My cousine is having one and its a DC and everything is in stock. Can u switch on the lights without starting the engine? His bike can. If so u can just change the bulb with the HID kit. No alterations required.

so this means that even i can flash my hid in the night?

                            • Bro I have a Bixenon on a Pulsar 180 UG3 and when I pull the pass switch at night when the headlight is already ON, the light flashes and goes to the high beam instantly at full brightness. In a pulsar when the pass switch is pulled the low beam switches off and the high beam switches ON. For a halogen bulb the blink is not that noticeable but in a HID the blink is really visible. It feels like a lot of photographers are clicking pics of a celebrity when I flash the headlight using the pass switch rapidly.

yeah the hid takes a couple of minutes to heat up after that heating is done you can use it to flash someone.....
