Canon picture quality & anti-blur is great when talking prosumers like these...But L110 takes it away with its 15x optical zoom but again its dearer by around 2k(varies from city to city)...A bad point in both is they dont come with defauly Li-Cad batteries but again thats an added advantage on longish tours where you cant always recharge your battery.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostGuys, lil help needed:
Which one is better between the two:
1.Canon PowerShot SX120 IS
2. Nikon COOLPIX L110
You can also try Sony H-55 around that price range!!! Its severly loaded & Sony's a front runner in the prosumer space...

I too just had these two in my mind and with whomever* I asked, the answer was unanimous canon.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostGuys, lil help needed:

I zero'd the CANON tooOriginally posted by sheelpriye View PostI too just had these two in my mind and with whomever* I asked, the answer was unanimous canon.

, the biggest advantage over NIKON is the full manual control, NIkon scores with 15X optical though (CANON has 10X)
Will get it next week. The Magician"

Both are 4X in digital zoom department, but digital zoom is not of much use i think, as it only keeps on cropping on the original pic size, reducing the quality of the pic too, which ultimately results in the "shattred" pic.Originally posted by sheelpriye View PostWhat about digital zoom?
(I'am noob at the photography and camera thing, and the above statement is best of my knowledge, it might be wrong)
Still the 10X optical zoom of Canon is more than enough, plus it has max of 15 sec shutter lag,it has got full manual controls, and a full manual focus too..
(1- 1/2500 sec (factory default)
15 - 1/2500 sec (total range - varies by shooting mode), no view finder though), but the nikon has a HD recording with 15X zoom available, with stereo sound, the canon has no HD recording ((L)640 x 480, 30fps/30fps(LP), and that optical zoom cannot be used in that too, and no stereo sound here.
So i think it's pretty much loaded for 13000 bucks, and after all the googling, i found it to be the only one having this much features in sub 13 grand department.Last edited by rennycornelius; 09-09-2010, 09:28 AM.The Magician"

@Renny: You are right; digital zoom is simply put, useless. Never look at the digital zoom rating when buying a digital camera.
I am not sure how these new breed of super-zooms work, but ideally speaking anything over say 6-8x zoom kills the details in the photographs. A 15-20x zoom is massive! Although, it will cover everything one would ever need to shoot (right from wide-angle to telephoto) but I am not too sure about the quality of the photographs at 20x!:)

@Renny : A decision well made. Canon simply rocks!!! the picture quality & anti-blur is amazing I can bet with teh li'l experience that I have with a 490IS and now a SX 20 IS(almost a SLR
).
5X extra optical zoom would rarely come into play unless you are too much into bird photography
Happy Clicking!!!
