Yes. It shouldn't be confusing to people because general Physics that I studied in std 9th said that F and A are inversely proportional! These are basics.

so in the absence of a tripod, i suppose too slow shutter speed is not possible, so what remains is aperture size..
    am i correct.
You can use your bike as a stand.
Your theory is correct, but it's not entirely possible on Sony DSC HX-100V because it's NOT an SLR.
Its a bridge cam, and even in manual mode you don't have full manual control.

While playing in A mode, you'd see that the S will be automatically set by the cam many a time and you wouldn't have complete freedom as you have with an SLR. That's a trade off one makes with a bridge cam. You can't lock controls at values you want all the time! Sometimes, the cam plays smart.

yes, ofcourse we will not get DSLR like quality, but i guess my cam has full manual mode.a little bit offtopic, i recently went to sony service center to repair my cam, that guy said that this (my cam) particular model was never launched in india. what you have in india is hx-100v, whereas mine i guess is hx-100v/b ( i purchased it from US of A).i am not too sure, but let me check, will report back on monday.

                Hmm, I see.

Specs for your cam (HX 100 V/B) as per Sony USA - https://docs.sony.com/release/specs/DSCHX100VB_mksp.pdf
Strangely, when I remove the B from the name, I get the same manual/spec sheet. See if you can find any difference.
