Amazing snap this - what kind of zoom do you have... its too good... I tried one the day when we could see the cresent of hte moon, mars and venus together making a smiley - got such a mess.. how to take a snap of the moon.. could you please elborate?

after so long..some macro work..one insect 3 shots.all handheld.raynox used.

direct flash also used since it was windy that day.and the wasp was one buzzzzzzing creature.

@ MG : Thanks mate! Shooting the moon is very interesting in the beginning.... its rewarding as you learn and can see better and better results in time.... but, there's a limit to the level of detail you can capture with a given FL, and when you've reached the limits of your current cam and lens, it becomes static

This was shot with my 400D and Canon 70-300 IS lens @ 300mm.

I witnessed the scene where the Mars, Venus & Crescent Moon were aligned in a wy to form a smiley, but unfortunately, I wasn't carrying my camera. Would have loved to capture that rare event!

The settings for moon shots would vary with the current phase of the moon. My general starting settings on a nice clear sky are something like this..

Full Moon : 1/320, f/8, ISO 100

Half Moon : 1/160, f/8, ISO 100

Crescent Moon : 1/100, f/8, ISO 200

From here, you can adjust as per the exposure you get..

Personally, I've got the best results while hand holding with IS on & manual focus.

Also, you get better results when the moon is straight above you. Its brighter and there's less atmosphere/haze between the moon and the camera.

That's a very nice shot for an utrazoom

400 ISO added glow to the pastry.the icing curvies on the pastry to me just looks too tempting.

Yeah the upper right corner has got some purple fringe.How do i fix it??

Btw, i edited the pic-increased the sharpness and adjusted the brightness and this is how it comes now!!
