Some points, crop or remove the trees/leaves on either side.
Some points if you all are capturing landscape which shows sky too.
Try to it early morning or during sunset. Google for golden and blue hours. The reason being, you get no over exposed images (happens in bright sunlight), you get clouds thus adding more to the photograph and the colors of the horizon can actually be seen changing from pink to orange.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Re: Photography and Critique
Hey Guys,
I rarely post anything to this topic, while I myself have a Photography Teaching Page running on Facebook (by the name of "Samarth Sir Photography: Teaching & Gallery"), which aims to teach photography (basic and advanced) to new guys.
So, I thought I should post here too...
I own a Canon EOS 600D, a capable starter camera... Wanted a full frame, but was dead scared of lens compatibility, lens defect multiplication, lack of large range of zooms, etc... I also own the Nokia 808 Pureview, the camera mobile phone.
All pics are snapped by me only, mostly using the DSLR, and some using the Nokia 808. Do comment on what you like, dislike about them.... Framing is wrong in some of them, due to time shortage...

Guys, comments and constructive feedback desperately needed... Don't quote the entire post though, mobile users will suffer... Thanks.

Re: Photography and Critique
I am guessing zoom being used here. Some point, the few tits and bits on the left is distracting alongwith the crowd. In landscape mode, this pic would have been great.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post
Again was zoom used?? A little touch up and this pic can tell a story.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post
Nice capture, try filling 3/4th of the screen with sky or water (either one) next timeOriginally posted by Samarth 619 View Post
Splendid, touch up required but beautiful nonetheless.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post
Now coming to pics that are wow for me.
Monkey, Diya, Child, Moon are beautifully captured.
If I may, want to add some things that I have learnt in past two years and while working in diff conditions
1) Shutter speed less than 100 will transfer the shakiness to the image
2) It increases more if you are going more than 135mm in telephoto lenses.
3) Rule of thirds ie very very important, but can be ignored in specific cases.
4) Same with Sunny 16 rule, its plays important role.
5) Using camera flash is nothing but using a 50watt bulb directly on the face of subject.
6) Most of all, which many might not agree, editing is very important. Just like we polish our bikes to make it look good, same is editing, our pic should stand out.
7) Shoot RAWFare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Yes, zoom was used in almost all images. The lenses mostly used are Canon 18-135 IS Kit lens.
Only the clouds and hills was taken using Nokia 808, which has a Prime lens.
And, the Moon pic was taken using Sigma 70-300mm (the cheapest one).
I've read your tips and will work on integrating them in my habits.
I agree with most of the tips, but I have almost always struggled with the background/ framing. Plus, I'm using a APS-C sensor which always adds a little more wideness that what I can see in the viewfinder.... Yes, cropping should help me, but I got so many images, almost 12000 so far. More than 3000 of them are such artistic type. My lecturer-ship doesn't leave me much personal time...
1. Yes... Will work on it. I use the P mode (Programmable Auto), but will start using Shutter priority mode. Stabilizer helps a bit, but subject will still shake anyways...
2. Yes, true.
3. I try following it to the best I can (The Diyas, The front disk of Duke 390 in streetlight). Often, I ignore when trying to hide something from the background. Ajmer is a strange place, its beautiful and its dirty too. For example, if I took the sunken boat pic slightly wide or different, you would've seen washed clothes being dried and that would've spoiled the pic's beauty element. So, will try my best to keep this rule in mind.
4. Sunny 16 is yes, very helpful, specially for full manual photography. But I read somewhere that most lenses gives the best quality at f/8, hence, so far my priority was f value remaining around 8. What do you think about it? Specially considering that I mostly use zoom lenses, sometimes a prime lens?
5. Agree. I avoid using inbuilt flash. Increasing ISO is better.... But one can't stop others flashes. I saluted Anna Hazare ji and then he smiled back, but only one decent pic I could take, and I think someone else applied flash on his cam.
6. I agree... That takes a lot of time and patience though. Most of these pics, I just resized and uploaded....
7. Yes... I somehow just forget while actually shooting. Will keep in mind to shoot RAW from now onwards, specially for artistic photography.
With passing time, I have understood Full Frame's attributes & its lenses. So, I have set my eyes on the Canon EOS 5D Mark 4 (when it releases) but that should take a long time to release.... Let's see what happens.

Yes it would work but it wont give you the depth of field, so the F most of the times would depend on what you are clicking.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post4. When I started, I used to watch one tutorial video before sleeping and I still find some videos which might be helpful in editing.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post6. I agree... That takes a lot of time and patience though. Most of these pics, I just resized and uploaded....
RAW is magic, even if you do 100% editing, you wont loose that much detailsOriginally posted by Samarth 619 View Post7. Yes... I somehow just forget while actually shooting. Will keep in mind to shoot RAW from now onwards, specially for artistic photography.
Full frame is distant dream for me as of now. I might be happy with D610 and 85mm 1.4 for the time being , as per my shoots.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostWith passing time, I have understood Full Frame's attributes & its lenses. Best part is that the birds (moving subjects) haven't blurred out while you were panning through!Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
