  • whoops I miss a lot due to absence of net at home (myself a miser ) ...

@m1G- Ur R6 is awesome (bike as well as its foto) .. Just a suggestion, u shud have tried a smaller apeture to get a twinkling effect of the street lights

@aryan- dude the first foto it seems u have screwed up the WB.. but a nice compo indeed. If shot in RAW then try changing the WB and see.

@killer - Dude congrats for procuring an awesome piece of equipment and welcome to the group of Nikon users. U'll love the cam just the way m doing with my D40.
I was carried away and got frustrated initially, but now I can realise the power of this puny looking D40/40x/60.. u'll never repent for the investement u have made ..
Ur first shot is incredible to believe that its shot using 18-55mm kit lens.

u r getting the noise bcoz of cropping.

    • @SP: At f/16, he's already at a very small aperture... any smaller and it would cause softness due to lens diffraction

@ Aryan : Love the softness of the 1st one. Is this as captured or achieved in post processing.. in either way, I love the effect.

      • @Vicky: Thanks. I didn't do anything related to 'softness'..Just tweaked the contrast a little, that's it!

        • From the HAWK series...

Here's a couple more from last week..

She was constantly aware on my presence.. got to captured some heavy Eye-Contact in these...

Love how her wing span is so symmetrical and 'back lit'..

          400D with 70-300 IS @ 170mm, 1/400, f/7.1, ISO 200

This one's my favorite.. love the aggressive pose.. how the body n wings are angled, but head is horizontal..

          400D with 70-300 IS @ 160mm, 1/320, f/9, ISO 200

Check out the larger version of this one here!

          Thanks for looking

              • @vicky.. brilliant pics of the birds in flight..

One thing you may want to try out next time.. Use your flash when taking the bird shots.. This is something I have seen most bird photogs do to get the eyes lit up with a nice catch light.. Also helps with these kinds of situations to prevent parts of the bird going black on the photo..

Overall, i am really impressed with the results you got with a 70-300 lens. I have tried a lot and have given up bird photography as I find it next to impossible to get one in flight :-(

Get the 70-300 IS with a close up diopter like the Canon 500D or the raynox. You will have both a good macro and a huge range for bird photography..

As for GES (Gear Envy Syndrome), everyone suffers from it.. the guy with the Canon A550 envies your H10, you envy my 400D+70-300, I envy my friends 40D+400 5.6L, he in turn envies the pro with the 1D Mk III & 600 F4 L

That's a nice tip, and i've even used this before... but on such a bright day and specially when shooting something 20mtrs away and against the sun, you'd ideally need something more powerful like the 580EX with a Better Beamer to get any tangible effect..

                        A 1d MKIII + 600 F4L is really overkill if you're not pro..
And like everything in life, one can kill with the cheaper not-so-powerful stuff too! Like a Mitsu Evo! Though in wildlife, you're left scrambling in shit if you don't have good length..

Hey anyone got a 50mm 1.8 canon mount prime? Second hand good condition for sale?
