Hi RD350 Lovers, I have a 1984 HT RD350 that I want to start riding again. I'm based in Gurgaon, Haryana. Would be really really happy if you guys can point me in the direction of a good mechanic here. The bike is in "dead"condition.

        Thanks a lot!!

Depends on the conditions. Rd can cost anywhere between 1.5-3lakhs based on their condition.

Hey man. Cool. I have got two quotes of 2.75 and 3.10. The former is an LT while the latter is a Japanese import HT. So the prices are fair? What about the maintenance part after I buy? Is it too costly to maintain? Can I take it for long rides? Are the parts hard to get?

Maintenance for any old bike is going to be expensive, 2.5-3lakhs for a rd seems about right, the HT, also check the tuning, cylinder, pistons, check what other parts are there n if the bike has proper factory parts, see if the bore is sleeved or unsleeved,

2.75 & 3.10 ?! What is the condition of these bikes ? Are you mechanically/technically knowledgeable to be able to determine if the motor is good ? Or do you have access to someone who has the knowledge/common sense to help you out ,especially with something like the rd ?
Judging them by just their cosmetic appearance is a big NO. A lot of these rd's look cool but never run well (or as their supposed to). They are a bunch of misinformed guys who want to own an rd but sadly lack the know-how or what it takes to get it to perform like what its supposed to.. and sellers take advantage of the rd charm and quote astronomic prices. Don't fall for the words 'ht lt import'!

There is this person called Ron chinoy (google "rddreams") whose builds are really sound and the bike performs well. Even a rddreams rebuild might not cost you 3L !
Also there is a rd rebuild thread http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/thumpers...-progress.html by naveen who has rebuilt it using a ton of parts imported. Do read other similar threads and forums to understand the pain it takes to have this baby purring purrfectly.
