    well well
    rd 350.
you can say it runs in our family.
all together we would have had 7 rd 350's at one time. i was very small.
though i remember the ride. i used to miss my school bus quite often.i had a 6 am bus to catch. then as backup papa would have to come for rescue. i used to sit on the tank up front. winter mornings... all i remember next is mind boggling speed and then i would be picked and dropped with water running on both sides of my eyes. damn good...
then when i grew up did not know much about rd350... but due to high level of biking awareness in pune bombay region.....
while i was doing my engeneering from pune university i was introduced to this most impressive bike in Indian history which leaves you nostalgic after so many years.
in my first year i was given a shogun which got stolen in second year when i got it to cal. then during my vacations solely due to hieghtened awareness about bikes my memory told me that there was a bike with my mama(maternal uncle). you won't believe it, ironically parked for years in garage which happened to be at our residence.it was rusting there.
after a lot of resistance from my family i took the bike to the mechanic and got it started.after that i remember i would just stay at mechanics place revamping the whole bike. hunting for parts. keeping the bike as original as possible. the anxiety. and when i first rode it.... still can't forget.. and will never forget. the twin engine and the 2 exhausts firing is just mesmerising.boy i have never been so possesed.( i can say that cause i have a sbk now)
that rd 350 was among the few bikes which came directly from japan...
so it had more bhp than the one manufactured in India.
    what a bike....
i feel so excited and young talking about it today as this happened to me 15 years back.

sorry guys just could not control my emotions....

      My RD 350 Pictures

      Hello Guys,

      Have recently joined XBHP.

I am on board on othere RD Specific forums and Auto forums. Some members might recognise me from there (Arun Cheloor being on such).

I will post my RD Experiences soon but thought I will start with the bike's pictures.

I bought the bike in March 1985 from Escorts show room in Trivandrum (Silver Star Engineers). All parts on her except the paint, stickers, blinkers and the seat cover are "stock". About 59,000 KM on the clock. On original set of points still.

Pictures were taken during Monsoon a few years ago and the bike was not at its cleanest.

      Hope you like her.

      Best Regards & Ride Safe

      Ram

All I will say is, it's a ***** to get one of these to run right. But when they do - and this might take years - the ride and ownership experience is unparalleled by any other Indian motorcycle.
Who needs more than 70 bhp when you don't need to slow down for the corners?

All fakes... they will say "yenkay" ...Yes the first lot bikes with Yenkay Meters. But that was with very few bikes. The rest came with Pricol meters.

All the Delhi ones are fake. They will show readings in errors of 40 kmph and more LOL

                  Unfortunate but true

                        Thanks much

It did take a VERY long time to get the stuff together.
The bike now looks exactly looks the way she did when she left the showroom on Oct 11th 1983. I even have the saree guard and carrier. But for ease of cleaning the bike I have removed them.

Absolutely everything is original: Switchgear, speedo-tacho, crashguard, headlamp, front and rear mudguard (damn hard to find) seat patra (Even more difficult) Petrol cock (most difficult) original rectifier (difficult too). And abouve all, genuine High Torque Silencers!!!

I also managed to get n Original unused fuel tank, 5 sets of Original Rajdoot packing Piston Rings and also the owner's manual.

And the best part is that I never had any of this stuff when I got the bike 7 yrs ago. It took me 3 years to get all the spares from diverse locations and I now have enough to get another whole bike done up.

Back in 2003 when I got my bike, very few people knew of the RD, consequently I had a LOT of fun running rings round other biker who were shell-shocked at the bike... now things are different, other bikers slow down in respect (or fear) to / of the RD.

For me the RD350 was, has & will always be like a Fantasy. Its a beast no doubt, but requires a lot of care & attention, which i am having trouble giving to my poor old KB125 also. Cheers & hats off to all those who are still holding on & maintaining these monsters!
