hii guys for about a few thousand kilometers i was racing against Fuel consumption and always used to get good mileage not less than 64, lately i`ve been starting to notice pathetic mileage of 55 but i attributed it to increased traffic due to opening of Chamravattam bridge but now i`m noticing that bike has totally lost its Suzuki smoothness which is worrying me more than FE,while i`m not getting any vibrations at the handle, engine sounds very rough and strained even at 60 before last service(last time i went above 50) engine used to be smooth till 90
Bike has run for about 12500kms(1 1/2 years)
Presently running on castrol power1 15W40 since 11380km.
Oil filter only changed only on second service.
Using G-power plugs(tried stock but no change)
Also engine is taking longer time to respond to throttle increase
Tappets adjusted at last service(at 11380)engine note was lovely with loose tappets, like pulsars

please help me on this as i`m very tensed about my bike.

starting with tiny things to major issues which can cause this:
        * replace airfilter
        * if oil filter is of use & throw type, like yamaha and most cars have then change it every other oil change
        * make sure you're getting genuine oil. I have got fake oils from castrol distributors also which caused insane tappet noise and rock hard gear shifts. And from the day since i stay away from castrol
        * if chain is not lubricated and adjusted correctly then it can also cause rough feeling.
-- What I suspect the most are:
        * mechanic has tuned your carb to leaner (than stock) setting.
        * tappets are tighter than specs.
For ruling out lean carb setting, ask the mechanic what he did to carb at the last service or else post a good quality pic of spark plug electrode.

          1. Change engine oil every 2,000 to 2,500 Kms.
          2. Change Oil Filter with every oil change
          3. Change the present Air filter with new ones..
          4. Change engine oil make from Castrol to Gulf Pride,or Valvoline, or Motul 3000 4T, or shell AX 7 SS.

Do these and then post your result.

            Rashid,

I tried in all the ways and with other dealers too and finally sold out my bike and bought Honda Dream Yuga and very much happy with it.

The problem with the suzuki not the bike, but the service, guys does not know how to service it and you cannot get it done outside as it is a new model for them.

Try you good luck rashid !! yes pick up and throttle response is very poor and suspension was too.

I think I lost 40000/- in year and half but what to do was my mistake choosing this bike

Glad you are happy with your Dream Yuga, what price have you got for your slingshot?Anyway i can't afford the same now, new bike only after studies are over and getting a job and that is not going to be a commuter, till then i have to adjust with my bike,
i have no idea why you are complaining about suspension, we have the most pathetic roads in the Indian republic and all my fellow customers are praising its shocks, as for me front used to be very stiff but that was solved by service center.

The oil filter does the job of filtering out the debris in oil over a period of time, and if it is not changed the debris will clog it's pores and block smooth and fluent flow of oil...this will lead to Accelerated engine wear, Heat, and sluggish engine....and the ultimate Death of the Engine...

I sold it for 35000/- resale is very less.

I do not know but rear shocks were very stiff after all the adjustments. I use a road with lot of speed breakers path holes mud everyday. Try to drive a dream yuga and compare and tell me the difference.

As for now i believe oil flow is not affected as when engine is running oil disappears from oil level screen, i might be stupid ofcourse, can i use the same oil after changing oil filter?
@gurrala74: you could've simply replaced the shox, but since you are happy with Yuga, thats nice.i TD twister before buying slingshot and was impressed with its initial pick-up.

collect the old oil is a transparent canister and look at the oil in sun light...If the oil is discolored, and when you shake the canister you can see suspended particles, then replace it along with the oil filter.

Changed air-filter today person at service center had called head mechanic who was absent to confirm whether Zeus and Slingshot use same air-filter, cost rs 140 also applied fresh engine oil on chain liberally

                        Result
Bike is back to normal never expected an air-filter change to make such an impressive results held at 80 for continuous 15-20 minutes no abnormal noises

A hundred thanks to Psr ji and Honda_stunner ji

BTW my friend has a bottle of Honda throttle which he kept for his twister but last week he sold his bike as he is going abroad, he is offering it to me as he has no use for it can i use the same in my bike ? recommended grade for slingshot is 20W40.If it is safe how long can i keep it in my bike??
