Hi all,

I am hearing a low whistling sound which is coming when I ride in low gear.(Maybe it persist in higher gears also but engine noise cancel it) It stays continuously and I am not been able to pinpoint the source. Have you guys faced it? My bike is 4years/30K KMs old.

My Thunderbird 500's days are numbered. It will be replaced by the all new Classic 350 Halcyon Green in another few weeks.


From Thunderbird 500 to the new Classic 350, yes, it is a downgrade, if we consider tank capacity, engine capacity, power and torque, lack of kick-starter, double horn, etc. But in all other departments like Bybre brakes with dual channel ABS and larger discs, alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, riding stance, better ride and handling, engine refinement, better fit and finish, etc., the new Classic 350 wins the race easily. Moreover, with the production of Thunderbird 500 stopped, the availability of spares in future becomes a big question. Also, I want to change from a cruiser to an all-rounder. So, booked one.

On 30 Sep 2021, I got the Blue Bird fully serviced at RE Company Service Station at OMR, Chennai, costing ₹ 7,097 including replacement of engine oil, oil filter, clutch and throttle cables, brake oil, fork oil seal, fork cone set, fork oil top-up, chain cleaning and lubrication, brake overhauling, etc. I want to hand over the bike to the buyer in very good condition.

Finally, I bade farewell to Blue Bird once and for all today evening. I sold my Thunderbird 500 for ₹ 57 k to the highest bidder, selected through Olx ad. Earlier, I had removed Givi windshield, Avenger rear-view mirrors and the connecting wires for tyre inflator and trickle-charger with the battery terminals. The used-bike dealers in Chennai quoted ₹ 50 k and less as they cited nil demand for Thunderbird 500. The Blue Bird was with me from 15 April 2013 to 11 Oct 2021. It took me to 20 states and UT, viz., TN, PY, KA, KL, AP, OD, WB, JH, BR, UP, DL, HR, RJ, GJ, MH, TS, MP, PB, HP and DD without any breakdowns, punctures, encounter with the authorities, etc. Now, eagerly waiting for the all-new Classic 350.
