  • Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500

A lot of the thunderbird from the initial lot had painted tanks at the lid area, whereas now they have been converted to galvanised tanks. And the best part is that RE doesn't care to keep the owners informed reg the issue.

Have tried 130/80-18 CEAT Vertigo Rage with no modification needed. Above that will touch the swingarm.

      • Fourth Free Servicing

Just an hour back, I and Blue Bird returned from Royal Enfield OMR after completing the fourth free servicing. It was a routine servicing. Although the front fork oil was supposed to have been replaced at the fourth servicing, it was not done. When enquired, the SA and the technician informed me that they would replace front fork oil only in case of complaints or leakages. Since the fork of Blue Bird was free from any faults or leakage, fork oil replacement was not necessary. I was charged 112 towards consumables. This was a new attraction in Royal Enfield OMR. I didn't pay for consumables for the first 3 free services.

That will eventually be the price everyone needs to pay once the free services are over? How many in here go in for Oil replacement by themselves? I used to do the same for my RTR 160, now thinking of the same for the RE too, but I am wondering.

Hello Guys, I got my Bird last Friday ... the bike is awesome but my initial ride gave me just 16kmpl ... I filled 1000 bucks worth fuel but did only 170kms in the last 4 days... is this a matter of concern or not. I have been riding under 50kmph very rarely did it go above that.. .?? Other than this the bike rides brilliantly.. its difficult to not go for a ride.

Tb500 should return around 25 to 30kmpl average. If ridden sanely below 60kmph it may give 31 to 35kmpl. This was calculated by tankful method. I think its the only way to calculate the average of the tb500

Quality of fuel , is good i guess.. Its the same place where i get my all my vehicles fuelled...
Now this is kinda getting me worried...

The manual says when the fuel gauge blinks when the fuel is less than .5 litres ..

Friend there is no mileage calculator on any tb500. Your probably looking at the avg speed. Check it correctly. And most importantly read the owners manual.

When blinking its fallen reserve. And thats 5.5 litres. Don't panic. Read the manual thoroughly. Enjoy the ride:thumbup:
