Recently my tb500 is making some strange noise while breaking or downshifting. The sound comes from somewhere in the rear. Thak-tat kind of sound. I have a strong feeling its of the swingarm because you can feel it underneath you literally.

Which are the stock tyres that come on the Tbird? Is there any need for a change? Basically grip in wet conditions and gravel.

Stock tyres are mrf zapper. And grip is pretty decent both on gravel and wet conditions. But I think upgrading to the GT535 pirelli is goin to help a lot.

            Hi all,

So i went on a long ride this sunday with a couple of friends of mine. We started from Hyderabad at 6 AM and reached Nagarjun Sagar Dam at 10 AM. I'm pleased to say that the highway even though a single lane, was very smooth with occational works going on the road at 20KM distances. I'm also glad to say that my T'bird did not show any kind of problems and ran as smoothly as possible just as expected.

Even though i was riding 2 up, i could easily manage to cruise at 100 with occasional bursts of 120. I'm pretty sure that if i were single, cursing at 120 would not have been a problem at all. Still, i was maintaining 100 or less as my other friends were on an Avenger and a Classic 350.

All in all, it was a very good ride after all

As far as showrooms are concerned, i think Go green motors at Gachibowli is fine enough. As for the ASC, well u know the story, i have yet to find a good one.

Thanks, I will speak with go green. Might go for used one if I find a decent one in April.

                    Hi,

I got my TB500 stoneblack on Decemeber 27th. I just took a drive from the showroom straight to my home, which is around 6kms.
And thats it. I had to go out of station for a week. So i came back last week and took my bike out for the weekend and covered 270+ kms.

My concern is, My trip A shows 310 Km and my Odo shows 273 km.. Is this a faulty meter or am i missing something ?
Also when i apply the front disc brake, I hear a clear hissing sound from the front side. Is that normal ?

It was a fun ride. Comfort, handling, pull everything was mindblowing. except for the above two concerns, I am very happy with the purchase.
                    And Also.,
4 motorcycles has been stolen in my residential area in last one week. So can someone suggest a good anti-theft alarm ?

                    Thanks in advance

What is the speed of cruising that individually everyone prefers for the Thunderbird 500?
I feel very comfortable in 75-80 kmph.

The trip meter reading more than the ODO is something unusual, i suggest you get it checked asap. As for the hissing sound, don't worry it is there in every TB that people have commented over here and mine is no exception. It will die down eventually.

Security alarms (Good ones) are expensive for bikes. But you can find some in the market. But beware as you might void warranty as most alarm systems will need to tap into the electrical system of the bike.

80 is a trouble free ride for me too. Even though, if the road is very good, i would cruise at 90-100.

                          Security alarms (Good ones) 0.
Thanks for the information mate. Should i check the instrument cluster immediately. or should i wait for the first service ?

Also is there any alternate for the security alarm. because Im deadly in need of one to protect my bike. as two wheeler theft is very common nowadays.

Thanks for the info! The Zapper Q are supposed to be pretty decent, though Zapper C are usually meant for durability rather than grip. Any info on which ones are these? Also are the Pirellis from the GT a direct fit? Also can I directly upsize 120/80 tyre to 130/80 or will it require a rim change? If rim change is required then I'd probably opt for 140/80 but will they fit the swingarm without any modifications?

When my Blue Bird went to the company-owned service centre, OMR, Chennai, for the second free service on 18 July 2013, I witnessed the security guy checking the fuel levels of all Royal Enfields by dipping a scale. I saw all the petrol tanks of all other bikes were clean and neat without any signs of peeling off of coating. Why is that coating on the inside of my Thunderbird 500's petrol tank only peeling off, when others' are clean and neat? The service advisors did not have any answers for my query and consoled me not to worry. Unfortunately, the service manager was not available on that day. I made them mention it in the job card. I was told that they took some photographs of the petrol tank, they would discuss it with the service manager and I would be contacted later. I waited for 5 days. I did not get any call from anybody.

Yesterday morning, I sent a detailed email to Royal Enfield customer service enclosing these photographs and raising a few questions. Within hours, I got the response from them stating that the service manager would contact me. The service manager called me today and assured me that my Thunderbird 500 Twilight would get a new petrol tank within 7 working days as it was out of stock in the service centre. Now, I keep my fingers crossed hoping that the new tank would be free from the problem of coating peeling off.

You can show it in the first service, not a big deal.
