but any technical reasons as to why it happens to only few but not to all ? is it defective brake supplied only to certain batch of TB500 ? I was told if the oil bleeding is not done properly this issue can keep occurring frequently, but is there a way to check if the bleeding was done 100% correctly ?? or is there any other reason for this problem

That's a relief, I mean good n equally sad that others also have same issue, so we can push or justify for warranty replacement for rear brake kitOriginally posted by simao View Post

But this is a problem with a certain lot i guess. Just want to confirm whether the GT535 has this same problem. If it has then I know what the fault is.
And they are still hand built. Worst, if it is a new person building your tb 500 engine be prepared for major issues.
Just a saw desert storm....replaced with new block piston and crank
Driven only 2000kms. Under warranty though. Old piston had scrapped the cylinder wall. This is very disheartening.
So be ready to face major and minor niggles of all soughts.
But now I guess most of the issues have been sorted out on the newer models

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Scary - Piston and Cranks being replaced at 2k kms... Repeated brake jam issues... !!! Someone can sue the company. As for GT535, they may not have the same brake problems... I'f i'm not wrong the GT has Brembos but I could be wrong... knowing RE I am.Originally posted by simao View PostReason? Its a royal enfield and you can't search for reasons

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Even the tb 500 has brembos! But I guess they are made locally. Where as the GT535 look far more better and quality looks top notch including the piplines. How effective are they and are any jams is the question only a person having ridden it extensively will be able answer.Originally posted by Vykier View PostScary - Piston and Cranks being replaced at 2k kms... Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
With 450 kms on the odo, today I noticed that even on pressing the clutch fully the rear wheel still has some resistance whereas on neutral it behaves perfectly normal. Any ideas what might be the issue and should I wait till the first service or get it seen asap?
Also I noticed that the rear discs are hotter than the front ones after riding, is this a normal occurrence?
(P.S. - The clutch works normally after I run the bike a little.
)

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Just enjoy your ride buddy. They clutch setting should be done at the first service. Rear disc hotter? See for discolouration. Tell ASC to adjust the brake pedal free play. Make as free as possible. But please be sure to check whether the brakes works before leaving.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Thanks man! I checked the disc and didn't find any out of the normal discoloration, and the wheel moves quite freely, just a slight squeak at a certain point.Originally posted by simao View PostJust enjoy your ride buddy. I find the brake pedal play is perfect for me right now, anyways I ride with my foot not resting on the pedal so accidental pressing is not an issue.
Still I'll consult the ASC when I take it for the first service, along with the clutch issue.
Cheers!
Engine oil turning black is a normal thing, means the oil is doing it's job well. Nothing to worry about.Originally posted by rahul_up87 View PostGuys just wanted to know that is blackening of engine oil is a bad thing? I have a TB 500, during 3rd service yesterday I got the oil changed (liquid gun) and after a 30 km ride the oil was pitch black from yellow . Anything to worry?

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
It's my first post in this amazing forum. I'm planning to buy Thunderbird 500,but I'm really confused should I go for 500 or 350.
Is the power a very important factor when you have luggage?
I will be doing solo mostly, so should I go for 350?
Is there any difference in the engine build quality?
What's the milage for both like?
Wishing all bikers a Happy Republic Day.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
If you can spend for 500 and can live with less fuel average go for 500 you wont regret later . Otherwise there is no difference in build quality .350 is equally good minus power. fuel average 500 25-33kmpl for 350 35-42 or some claim 45.Originally posted by royalrider View PostIt's my first post in this amazing forum. Ok that gives a more clear picture now.. A comfortable ride matters when you are going up the hill, I agree with you.Originally posted by oilburner View PostI have owned both TB 350 in 2012 did spiti ladhak nubra on that one felt need for more power with luggage at the back for 25 days . and currently own TB 500 did spiti jalori pass wasexcellent on the hills less gear changes more comfortable due less efforts of rider.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
I am not from Pune but I guarrantee which ever you choose to go 98% of ASC for RE are same I mean crap. you have to stand on top of them and let them know you know better than them. recently I had conflict with company engineer when he refused to honour warranty claim saying he already had given warranty for my bike for lot of parts. I replied am i the companies quality head or do i manufacture these bikes at my home and sent a mail to territory manager and it was done.Originally posted by paradoxx View PostAny suggested ASC in Pune for the first service?
