Weird fuel gauge and inaccurate clock are hallmarks of the Thunderbirds! I don't depend upon the fuel gauge and the clock. I always open the tank and check myself for fuel and my watch for time.

I go with you, I've got my tank replaced under warranty too. Same issues. Just that its the opposite. It shows there is more than half a tank of fuel when there is hardly 5 litres.

So that means fuel float replacement on the cards?

Last night, my bird swallowed 15.13 litres at Trichy TVS BP pump after riding 150+ km with the lowest bar in the flashing mode! I knew my bird would consume 10+ litres immediately after the warning, and that was why, I did not bother to fill her up en route. I told the attendant that my bike would consume 15+ litres and it became a reality. As I mentioned earlier, my bird's float was replaced already and even the new one was inaccurate.

I am planning to buy a thunderbird 500cc. I am based in Bangalore. Can somebody suggest a good dealer?
I got a lot of names from royal enfield website but the reviews for them are putting me off.
How much time does it take after booking to get the motorcycle. From this thread, I gather people are getting their motorcycle delivered in one month only. But in all the reviews I read, people were complaining of 6 months time.

That's sad. Still I'll show it to them once during servicing.

Also since past two days I'm getting a very high and uneven idling around 1.5k to 1.7k, as if the bike has choke engaged. Any ideas?

Your location is Mumbai. I hope that does not make a difference. In case you got your bike from Bangalore, do you mind sharing the dealer's name.

Take it to service center they will fix it. I had once faced this problem after 2nd service. There is a screw under the seat to set the idling right.
Don't try it at home :P

Got it checked at the service centre, turns out it wasn't an idling issue. Weirdly, the converter pipe (that's what it's called I was told) had gotten cracked and was letting air in, hence the higher idling rpm. Got it fixed, took around 15 mins, they had to remove the seat and partially open the tank.
