Mail a letter to customer service. But I assure they just won't do anything about it. Funny replies were given like all 500 uce have this knocking phenomenon then its normal there's play in the connecting rod which again is normal!
I rode mine for four months and was fedup of this knocking and a lot of problems and got rid of my tb500. I am now relieved

ohh sad to hear that you sold off your tb500... How much did you ride(kms) before selling it off and how much did you sell it off for?

Don't try it at home :P

There is one more thing to note with the Thunderbird. The EGR is another area to notice. There will be a small hose which takes air from the EGR chamber to the air inlet chamber. Check if there is any leak in that one, there is a large possibility that it might be an issue. I had that issue quite a few number of times and the idling would shoot to 1500 to 1600. Correct that and it would be way gone.

            Hey mate.
You can check with dealer in marathahalli ringroad.
I am not sure about the name.

I think it was the same hose, ran from underneath the tank to the air inlet chamber.
The hose had a crack and was letting excess air in.
But a hose developing a crack at just 1400kms, sad.

Not surprising. I got my fuel hose replaced by 5000 km something.
It had developed severe cracks and fuel started to leak when the ignition switch is turned on to start the fuel pump.

If you are not afraid, you have probably chosen too easy a mountain to climb!!

                      1. What should be the Max RPM?
                      2. What should be the Max speed?
                      3. What other precaution he should take during the run-in period?

We are planning a short trip of 100KM tomorrow. Is it good time we take it to highway?

                      Thanks

Yes, but strictly follow the running-in instructions specified in the owner's manual.

I would suggest you to maintain rpm less than 2500 or max 2800. This would give a comfortable ride and also aid in smooth run in. And all through the life of the bike any rpm near 2500-3000 would give the smooth and less straining ride.

Weirdly, the converter pipe (that's what it's called I was told) had gotten cracked and was letting air in, hence the higher idling rpm. Got it fixed, took around 15 mins, they had to remove the seat and partially open the tank.
