    Hello Friends,

Sharing some experiences and learnings at ASC.

ASCs have a calculator size RPM meter which they use to set RPM. My bike had low RPM(410) as per the meter. The mechanic adjusted it to 490. Please do not confuse this with out meter console rpm.

Exhausts, being free flow are dangerous for the exhaust valve of the Engine. Perhaps, the silencer I replaced(quality chennai silencer) is a free flow one. Thats why, I was getting loud backfirings. Its not due to EFI or lean burn.

Please see this video on you tube. A nice illustration of the cause of backfiring and performance drop.

Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

After learning this, I am planning to switch back to original Silencer, until I get a good replacement for it.

As I am new to these technicalities and still learning. Please let me know, if my direction is right.

    Cheers 😀

Did you see or ask how he set the rpm?
And yes a free flow exhaust is always bad for the valve specially when riding at higher speeds. They are fried literally. Not much impact for sedative riding. But who would buy a 500cc for riding sedately?

            Hello fellow riders,
I am using a Thunderbird 500 for the past 11 months. This, yes is my first post here. I did run in my bike very smoothly, and it was all good. But lately there is an issue that I have been facing which is the sound, a vibratory ringing like. This happens somewhere around 1500 - 2200 rpm and is quite the irritating. It makes me feel a pang as to what might be it. And also the EFI motor sound comes in once in a while during every ride on my bike. Has anyone got this rectified/ reduced?

There is this oil leak on the engine head bolt and a stud bolt on the engine oil tank and that has been there for quite long. The O-ring on the head was replaced and yet it continued. Now the service guys put a paste on the engine bolt so that it would seal the same from leaking, is there any proper solution for this?

Secondly coming to the quality of the bikes,
I had got my Odometer changed at 5200 odd km due to the minor cracks in the edges, the service guys showed me quite a few odometers which had the issue and hadn't been pointed out by the customers and yet haven't been replaced.

            Regards

Is this vibration coming from the engine? It could also some loose nut bolts. Check the source of the sound.

Regarding the oil leakage, the O ring is the culprit. Mine to had the same problem. Replaced under warranty.
EFI Motor noise issue should be shown to the ASC immediately.

                Thank you for the reply.
The EFI sound is similar to the sound which comes when we first switch on the ignition switch. I asked the service guys they told me it's quite normal.
Also do any of you hear a bell like noise when the engine is running?

There's no bell like noise but there's a knocking sound from the piston. When you give the throttle after putting the gear its heard.
And regarding the efi pump sound you get in touch with RE customer care

Gave my bike for 2nd service now @ mehboob garage. Will get the bike back @ 6PM

Few things which I asked for-

                    - as bike hasn't finished 3k Kms since last oil change, only oil topup is required.
                    - bike idling rpm @ 1300, should get reduced to 900.
                    - getting 25kmpl avg, before 1st service avg was 32kmpl. Garage guy told rpm idling @ 900 will take care of average and I can expect better average.
                    - rear view mirrors gets disturbed when I ride the bike @ 80kmph. One small screw needs to be tightened by RE service guys.
                    - no concerns and issues with I using a wildboar free flow silencer.
                    - getting a small knocking sound when bike exceeds 100 kmph, garage guy told its normal with 500 cc engine but he will anyways check. I am concerned about this one, and will not take this one for granted.
                    -general vehicle checkup

Moreover getting slime puncture protection for tyre tube today. Will try to fill the tube with it today or tomorrow. Am hopeful to see no surprise punctures, considering it's very successful product internationally.

Updating the thread with post service experience-

People do respect mehboob khan & his garage, today I realised why, amazing service experience. All reported items were taken care of. Even things which I wasn't able to notice, they got to my attention and fixed it- ex chain, mudguard setting etc.

Vehicle was never so smooth as it is today, enjoyed my ride back home.

Idling issue- there is a small screw below the tank which is used to adjust rpm on idling. One need the taco metre to adjust it to accurate levels. New rpm on taco metre reads at 600 and on bike it's 900 when vehicle is idle.

Rear view mirror- again, there is small screw behind the mirror, which can be tightened for mirror fix. Mirror is as tight as rock now .

Knocking sound- it was because few screws were loosened in engine area on both left and right side. Vehicle when touched 100 kmph, the vibration in vehicle along with those loose screws were making noise. While coming back home I got chance to ride vehicle fast, didn't get that sound again. But will keep my ear open on next long ride.

Silencer- again verified with all possible mechanics in mehboob garage, no issues with wild boar free flow on EFI.

Didn't get chance to collect slime today as seller is on the opposite side of bangalore to mehboob garage.

Overall, very satisfied with vehicle servicing, no surprises, no nonsense, on time delivery. These guys are better than bannerghatta and Indiranagar service station. Post today's top up, next oil change @ 6k kilometres or next servicing.

Total payment to mehboob garage including filter cleaning and oil top-up, labour etc- 100rs only.

I was wondering if I should be prepared for some of the major niggles reported here from the bike or should I expect a more refined product as it has been more than a year since it's launch.
