Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Hey Vinit, can you give a small review about them. I am also planning to buy riding gloves but confused. Which other options did you try or had in your mind before buying this one. The glove looks cool, no doubt about thatOriginally posted by Vinit Monga View Post

I am using the RE gloves since July, they are very good, in fact it is the piece of my riding gear am most satisfied about. I had checked DSG, Cramster, Rjays ... but these were the best in fit and material.
TranquilRage- i prefer checking air pressure every time i get my bird fueled up- i.e once in 2-3 weeks. i got my bird fueled up twice and ironically i found air pressure down on front & rear tyre to 19 & 25 both the times. i got it done to 25 & 35 level respectively.
gyan_recl350- mate i directly went and picked up RE gloves as i read couple of reviews on them (both on xbhp & teambhp) and every one appreciated the quality of gloves with RE.

That sounds good. How do they perform when temperature is high, I mean do they have any sort of ventilation. And are they good enough for cold climate as well?Originally posted by TranquilRageOkay, first my question to all ... how often do you check/fill tyre pressure?

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
From the day i got my new engine,(Check my previous thread how i got a new engine) i have been using Mobil 1 Fully synthetic oil for my TB500. Also till 9000KM i have been replacing the oil every 3000KM. i know this is all not needed and some might say its waist of money. However on a ride to Lonar Crater along with a friend who also has TB 500, i felt the difference. My bike did not make any wired noise like his did when we pushed the bikes to 135KMPH. Mine was still sounding much better then his. Also now that i am all set to go to Nagaland wanted some piece of mind that my engine will be trouble free throughout the 8000KM ride. Have been planning for days and will be leaving on the 24th of Nov.Originally posted by simao View PostHas any one tried fully synthetic oil on the tb500? The ASC uses motul semi synthetic. Is there change in performance or is the engine running smoother?

That's good. On top of that did you add any engine oil additive also?Originally posted by White Knight View PostFrom the day i got my new engine,(Check my previous thread how i got a new engine) i have been using Mobil 1 Fully synthetic oil for my TB500. Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Nop, only the oil. It's Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5W 50.
Last year in Jan I had been to Amritsar on my 1983 Standard, during winters! It was so cold that couldn't remove the Dslr camera from the bag hence this year have ordered a Drift Action HD camera from US. Would diligently use it and post videos and pics.

Hey buddy,
My bird tbts 500 is also due for service in next 3-4 days. I'm also planning to get my oil changed. I just wanted to know that how much oil do you fill because the manual states 2.75 l with oil filter and ASC fills 2.5 l.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
You know what, all these days I was kind of blindly believing what ASC guys used to tell and hence always thought they are filling 2.75 (as they said and I never checked, hence they might be right or may be wrong also) but my service is due too after some 1000Kms so this I am going to pay close attention to it.Originally posted by rahul_up87 View PostHey buddy,

Also I heard from some users that "wurth" engine oil additive is doing wonders. 80 ml of it, last for 10K. So I am gonna give it a try.

Re: Servicing & Maintenance Cost @ 49 Paise Per km
Ravi ji, that is so helpful as I am yet to get my TBTS500,. I want to ask you one more thing, cost of tyres after, say after 15-20k kms, how much it could add to Rs 0.49/Originally posted by J.Ravi View PostThe cost of servicing and maintaining my Blue Bird is just 49 paise per km at 3,990 km.

Please don't include the depreciation cost of TBTS500 as I would never sell my sweet dream. (a.k.a. fairy tale).
rgds..

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
No Idea Dude. I am from Mumbai. I picked it up from a shop in Dadar who deals only with oil. I always get a 4Ltr can for INR 3500. I always keep some as back up to top up oil if and when needed.Originally posted by Vinit Monga View PostWhere did you buy the oil from? Online or any store? The Mystery of how much oil one should put in a Royal Enfield: The most important thing to consider is how much oil was drained from the engine before new oil is put. Most of the ASC guys are lazy and they wont take efforts to drain the engine completely. No matter how much they try, there would be some oil always there because it works like a fail safe to protect crucial parts inside the engine. Even though the manual says 2.75 ltr's of oil needs to be there in the engine, this will only happen when you have completely over-hauled an engine, and in a dry engine you are pouring 2.75 ltr of oil. During a regular oil change your engine should take anywhere between 2.25-2.5 Ltr of oil. I have been using an engine Flush from Abro! works for me. All you do is pour the complete can along with the old oil and keep the bike on idle for 3-5min and then drain the engine. Dont be in a hurry to pour the new oil yet, Waite for a couple of minutes and shake the bike to drop the oil, all you can do is hold the front disc and move it from front to back. Or you can keep it on a incline by placing a stone below the front wheel. Sometimes cranking the engine for a quick second also works. Remember its just cranking the engine and not starting your bike. Let a good mechanic do it for the first time before you can try your self. Most of the ASC mechanics are on a tight schedule and have to finish x number of bikes in a day. So its not completely their fault that they are not patient with our bikes. Remember the only person to take care of your bull is you, so try to do it yourself sometime.
