Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Is it free flow? If it is, then there will always be backfiring. But For Efi there shouldn't be any problems I think. Also check the bend pipe gasket at the head. Mine had a leakage got it replaced under warranty. To check for leakages apply shampoo water or foam and check for bubbles or suction.Originally posted by amitlal169 View PostQuality Chennai for TBTS 500. ASC suggested the change.
And if ASC suggested then they themselves should be able to sought it out. Most ASC mechanics are afraid of even touching the tb500 electronics. They are either completely ignorant about it or are too scared or lazy to touch it. My personal experience. Its best to get in touch with RE service engineers. They will be able to guide you.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Hello Brothers
Finally after owning a Std 350 CI for 5 years I went ahead and booked a TB 500 in August. Got the delivery on 16th November. I completed my running in in the speed of 50-60 and did my first servicing yesterday. I had noted the following complaints in the job card.
1) Suspension Noise
2) Wheels Jammed
3) Steering jammed
4) Neutral Problem
5) Improper throttle response at first start and jerky rides thereon
I was at the service station and had seen the guy from the Customer Lounge changing my engine oil, adjusting the clutch and doin some job with the steering. After around 1.5-2 hrs my work was done and i was asked to take the test ride. The bike seemed very different than what it was. I was happy as all the screaching noise had gone. Took the delivery and rode away. Took my bike for a ride of 80-100 kms and i found by the end of the ride the noise from the suspension had begun again and the steering was jammed again. The steering didn fall apart when directed to the extreme end without assistance(i had to push). I hence called up the manager whom i hav a fairly good relation and who had said that particular mechanic will do the job as he is an expert. I told him about the pathetic work done by his mechanic. He assured me to bring the bike again and he will get it proper.
One more problem which i am facing now is i have took the bike to 80kph yesterday. After putting it on 5th gear i hear some noise like thak thak thak (2 or 3 times) somewhere in the bike. Not sure where but i suppose it is from the chain being loose. Does anybody get this type of noise after putting the bike in 5th gear?

No. Sound doesn't come after putting the bike in 5th gear. May be chain loose or may be it is, that all these days you were riding a CI STD so got used to high gear low speedOriginally posted by prasanjit.baul View PostHello Brothers

I can relate to some problems. I faced the same problems. But now rectified. Regarding wheels getting jammed, keep a little free play on the brake lever.Originally posted by prasanjit.baul View PostHello Brothers

Steering getting jammed also happened on my tb500, got it sorted out. Don't replace the cone set unnecessarily, first see if any cables/wires are getting jammed while turning.
Of late the rear right shocker of my tb500 has started making weird noises.
With regards to improper throttle response, check the fuel that you use.
If replacing, replace under warranty.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Totally agree to what you said Simao!! The problem is before the service I noticed a jammed steering and creaky noise from the front suspension. after the service it was free and the noise had gone.. Probably he loosened up or made necessary adjustment such that it felt ok during the test ride right after the servicing. But wen I had some 80kms ride it started showing the same signs which it was showing earlier after 50kms or so. And even now i.checked the creaking noise is not from the suspemsion but from jus below the handle bar joint where the cone set is placed. So I guessed its the prblem of cone set. I hope the issue gets solved.Originally posted by simao View PostI can relate to some problems. I faced the same problems. But now rectified. The fuelstation from where I fill has decent fuel. Problem is I get jerky rides or the bike feels running out of fuel in the first start and pick up of the day. But after the engine is hot it becomes normal. Dont know wat to do... I had noted dis in the service card but then the mechanjc opened up the air filter cleaned it up and revved the engine fully widout the airfilter for 4-5 secs.... Dont know what was he really doin. ..

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
I am also experiencing the problem pertaining to things hitting back after 100km run. These are exact same thing which I got corrected in 1st service.Originally posted by prasanjit.baul View PostHello Brothers

I am planning to go to mehboob garage day after tomorrow afternoon to get things rectified.
I had problem with bike making vibrations from rear when i ride it slow. I can feel rear is getting continuously touched / rubbed with something and I think the problem I had with chain adjustments made by RE mechanic is hitting me back. I think it's the same problem you are also having when you say wheel jammed. Correct me if I am wrong.

Oh man! That sound is really kind scary at times. I had it to. After taking many test rides finally caught it red handedOriginally posted by prasanjit.baul View PostTotally agree to what you said Simao!! At ASC, the mechanic and me after riding the bike twice concluded it wasn't of the suspension but the cone set. But then we stopped and he asked to apply the front brakes and 'jump' the shockers and turn the handlebar. He bent and located the sound. it was a metal plate that was fouling againt the chassis and vibrating. He just pulled it out a bit with a screwdriver. And it was gone!
Attaching a pic. Its the plate with the Allen key that you see was the culprit.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Ohhh.. So u gave me another possible reason for the noise occuring. However, wid so many possibilities I guess I will have to inspect with the mechanic and find a permanent solution once and for all.. Be it a metal plate or the cone set.. After all we dont pay 2 lakhs for visiting the service centre again again and again. What say!!Originally posted by simao View PostOh man! That sound is really kind scary at times. I had it to. Yea absolutely. But the power and attention is worth it. These are few niggling issues which should settle down with time and the right approach.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Even i am facing a similar issue where i am getting a sound like 'Tock' when i hit some bumps on the road. Although the sound does not always arise, it seems like its from the front suspension but i am not really sure....
Have any of you guys faced a similar issue? If so how did u get rid of it? This is really troubling me.... help out plz

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
sound could be from front handle cone set get it tightened or it may be of fuel gauge in fuel tank.Originally posted by TBTS-350 View PostEven i am facing a similar issue where i am getting a sound like 'Tock' when i hit some bumps on the road. Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
It could be speedo n rpm meters. Try to shake it your hands. If there lot of play, then put some packing like sponge temporarily.Originally posted by TBTS-350 View PostEven i am facing a similar issue where i am getting a sound like 'Tock' when i hit some bumps on the road.
