Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
RE showroom guys told me mehboob garage is not an ASC and I will loose warranty if I get vehicle serviced there. The second option they gave me is a teknik motors in Indiranagar. How are you so sure that mehboob garage is an ASC?Originally posted by gyan_recl350 View Post

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
That is super funny. I got my 2nd,3rd and 4th service done there and since they were all under warrenty, hence free service and they charged as per free service( a non ASC would never do free service). Secondly if you see service station name in RE's booklet or just google you would see mehboob garage mentioned as ASC. This is just heights of misinformation from RE guys. But still regardless of they are ASC or not, you should not have gone to Bannerghatta center. You know what many mechanics their don't even know how much tyre pressure should be kept. Highly unprofessional as well. They would give bikes which has come for servicing for test rides to other users. They would sell goldstar silencer for 3K but if you buy it from somewhere else they say warrenty would be void, but it won't get void if you use their goldstar silencer which they buy from JC Road and sell it for 3K.Originally posted by Vinit Monga View PostRE showroom guys told me mehboob garage is not an ASC and I will loose warranty if I get vehicle serviced there. Mate don't get me wrong. I appreciate all the info you provided me earlier. I do care for your words and my bike too. I just double verified in the RE's booklet now and I see mehboob garage on page 57.Originally posted by gyan_recl350 View PostThat is super funny. Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Absolutely no issues friend. I am not taking you wrong or something, just felt bad because you had been warned but still became victim. I had gone their because I had not done my homework well and neither did anyone tell me as I hardly knew any RE guy that time.Originally posted by Vinit Monga View PostMate don't get me wrong. Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Sir,Originally posted by Vinit Monga View PostRE service store manager told me that I can't use Mobil1 5w50 oil on my bike ( which I was carrying from my side) else he will clearly take off engine warranty. He showed me terms and condition where it's specified that any lubricant or oil which RE doesn't authorise will end date the engine warranty. Finally after lot of argument agreed to the RE guys and got their brand 15w50 oil.
A little research on Oil and its grading would have helped you win the argument. Even if you have to go through our thread on Oils you would have understood that Mobil1 Fully Synthetic oil cannot void warranty. Quick lesson on Oil grading. 15W 50 what you need to know is 15 is the Minimum temperature for optimum performance, 50 is the actual grade of viscosity at 15 degree and above. But if the temperature falls below 15 degree then this oil is not recommended. As per warranty 15 or 5 degree does not matter what matters is the 50 unit of viscosity. I have had a word with RE's all Maharashtra engineer and he does not stop me from using it and neither is my warranty void. And you have mentioned Filter Cleanup-80 i have they didn't clean the oil filter and put it back. U always need to put a new oil filter during oil change.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Yes I did the research. I spoke what all you mentioned and I explained the difference between 5w & 50. The manager agreed to all the logic I gave him. He just told me that in case something happened to my bike engine in future and if while creating the case if they come to know I did not have the RE approved oil change then warranty will be considered to be Void. Store manager was not agreeing to mention that I am having an oil change in there service station on their systems for my bike as I got the oil from outside.Originally posted by White Knight View PostSir,

Again, my bad that I went to such a bad service station.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Hello Friends,
After replacing the silencer, I am facing some issues. Thought to let you all know.
There is a lot of backfire during decelerating. So I checked with ASC. They said, its nothing and there will be no problem. I was not satisfied with the answer. So, I did some googling and got one explanation. please see the link...
Reading the link, i was able to relate to symptoms. I got increase in mileage, meaning the bike is running lean.
Next time I go to the nearest ASC, I will ask them to re-tune the EFI to be in sync with the replaced silencer. I hope that will solve the issue.
Please suggest me, anything else I should also look at to solve the issue.
Thanks in Advance !!!Best Regards,
Amit

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Yes backfiring happens because of lean mixture. Since your bike is EFI hence ask skilled mechanic to get it re tuned. I have no idea how to do that but one thing is sure, backfiring is symptom of lean mixtureOriginally posted by amitlal169 View PostHello Friends,

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Lean mixture could also be due to air leak around carb boots and exhaust. When you let go of the throttle, additional air gets sucked through the passage and thus causing a lean mixture. Just a pointer mate.Originally posted by amitlal169 View Post

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.
