Also, the guy at the service center called me and told me that i'll have to pay the entire amout 2-3 days before delivery. Is it so?

I have book marked the PDI link, will PM you by end of day.

And yes, you have to pay entire money 2-3 days ahead so that RTO registration process is done ahead of delivery.

My all new Thunderbird 500 Stone is all ready for delivery and is waiting for me at the showroom. ... SUPER EXITED..... The only problem is that i wont be able to make the payment till this weekend. I have Spoken to the guy at the showroom and he assured me that it will be waiting for me till then......

The only thing which is kind of bugging me is that the bull is kept in the showroom after it has arrived and not in a go down or the storage area... everyone who is visiting the showroom is drooling over it and touching it and stuff.... plus its not yet cleaned up..... I don want people fiddling with it before i get it... Getting frustrated...

Anyway, while i kill time for it to arrive, i had a few questions which i was hoping you all will help me with :

1.) First and foremost, as i'm getting the Matt Black (Stone) is there any special attention which is required to keep the paint in the showroom condition for as long as possible?

2.) Can i wax and polish my bike just like the other paints? If yes, then what is the interval period between wax and polishing? Do i need to wait a certain time before i start to wax.polish by bike?

3.) What are the most common problems which have been occurring to some of you who have had this beast for a while now? How can i prevent/fix them, if i encounter the same.

4.) I saw a bit of oil type substance (most probably the engine oil) near the cap of the bike in the showroom which is waiting for me. (Note: It was not dripping oil or anything). Do you think its a leak or maybe oil had spit over by mistake while filling?

5.) What is the mileage that my fellow brothers are getting?

6.) I will be using this bike mostly in the weekends and while going on a tour. Might not start it or about 5-6 days in a row. Will there be any problems because of that or is it ok?

7.) TranquilRage had bought a rain cover for to protect the notorious instrument panel from rain. Any idea where i can get the same in Hyderabad?

8.) The rust on beast is a BIG BIG turn-off. Are any of you brothers having such problems? If so how are you dealing with the problem? Is it a small niggle or should i be alarmed if i get the same?

I know some/most :P of the questions are stupid. Please bear with me.

                    Thanks

Congratulations on getting it in about a fortnight which will envy most of the folks waiting for their rides. While I don't own a Thunderbird myself, I have tried to answer a few of your queries based on what I do for my Electra 350. Answers in Bold.

I don't think the paint is covered under warranty. On top of that it's one helluva colour to maintain (Scratches are easily visible). Other than covering the bike with a good quality cover, I suggest atleast 3-4 coats good quality wax as soon as you get it delivered. Don't bother with the Teflon coating they offer. Instead, spend your money on automobile wax like Collinite, Mothers, etc., Even if a bit expensive, they last a long time. Additionally, get a few microfiber cloths (not cheap replicas). They can be used for cleaning, waxing & general maintenance and don't damage the paint at all.

2.) Can i wax and polish my bike just like the other paints? If yes, then what is the interval period between wax and polishing? Do i need to wait a certain time before i start to wax.polish by bike?

Wax YES. Polish - Strict NO NO. Polishing is used to revive faded/scratched portions of painted parts. Most polishes are abrasive and remove paint.Don't even think about it. Waxing will help you in two ways.
                      1. Protects painted parts for a couple of months. It will repel water and prevent surface level scratches.
                      2. Provide a mirror like sheen.

4.) I saw a bit of oil type substance (most probably the engine oil) near the cap of the bike in the showroom which is waiting for me. (Note: It was not dripping oil or anything). Do you think its a leak or maybe oil had spit over by mistake while filling?

When you say cap of the bike, what do you mean ?

6.) I will be using this bike mostly in the weekends and while going on a tour. Might not start it or about 5-6 days in a row. Will there be any problems because of that or is it ok?
Check water level in battery(if it's not a maintenance free battery) atleast every month. Don't let it uncovered for a long time and if feasible, have someone start it & let it run for a few minutes.

8.) The rust on beast is a BIG BIG turn-off. Are any of you brothers having such problems? If so how are you dealing with the problem? Is it a small niggle or should i be alarmed if i get the same?

Again, waxing will give you some level of protection from rust. If you ride during the monsoons, wipe it clean after your ride. Chrome parts in the thunderbird are very few. The only metal polish/wax that I have used & highly recommend is the Collinite 850. It will remove surface level rust & also prevents rust formation.

I know some/most :P of the questions are stupid. Please bear with me.

                      Thanks

Hope that helps. feel free to ask if you want more help.Happy riding.

Thank you so much santhoshknn and TranquilRage for your quick and dedicated replies. I went to the showroom and have handed over the cheque. The dealer will call me when it will be done and i can finally go and pick it up.

Vinit Monga, i have already inspected the bike, but will do it again at the time of delivery. I have observed the paint quality and it appears to be top notch. The stone color is really impressive. I however observed some things on the surface, when i ran my palm through the tank surface, it kind of seemed to be a bit un-even. Maybe it was just my mind speaking or maybe not, ill have to check it out even more closely at the time of delivery.

Is it true that we have no warranty for the stone color??? Why is that so?? Its kind of a big let down . Now i have to maintain it even better....

Mate, seems like bangalore brand showroom is not letting folks know (proactively) about warranty limitation of stone colour at the time of initial booking. I also came to know when I researched more about RE post my booking in march 2013.
