After the service received at the RE service center (HSR) at Rajaji Nagar Industrial Estate, we decided to change over to a RE service center closer to home, CVS Motors Service center in palace Guttahalli seemed to fit the bill. The first thing we did notice was that though we started at 8 am to ensure we were first in line, this place did not open up until 8:30 am, there was no watchman or any caretaker even available to take in the bikes in an order or number them based on arrival, while we did arrive 4th our job cards were ready and put in the queue only after 8 or 9 bikes who had arrived much later.

The issues to be addressed during this service were:
      1. Continual Oil Leakage (few drops during the night stop every time)
      2. Grinding noise when the rear disk brakes are used
      3. To many false neutral during gear changes
      4. Oil change & general service

While the promise was to get the bike completed and ready to be delivered by 2 PM, there was a heavy back log of bikes from the previous day and at 1 PM they had not even started with Baloo. It took quite a while of convincing the mechanic to start on the bike while I waited for the delivery; the issues that were going to be worked on were the false neutral, oil leakage and the grinding noise on the breaks along with the general service. While these issues were being attended the waiting room seemed quite comfortable to lounge in, at the end the bike was completed and handed over at 5 PM which a bill of additional cost for polishing only when I pointed out the bike was a stone black and dint require polishing it was said that this would be adjusted in the next bill.

      Baloo’s few niggles continue:
      Date: 27th June 2014

Post the second service the oil spills continued to show up in all the parking spots where Baloo would stand to rest, the next day a ride to the service center told me that they needed a short visit from Baloo to try something else to get this fixed, the date was pushed to the next Monday as there were packed and over loaded with bikes.
On 30th we started late morning at 11:00 am to the service center, it was only almost an hour later when the mechanic was able to take a look at Baloo, he now tried fixing the right hand side kicker cover to stop oil leaks, he used a sealant to close all leaks and while this did take a good hour to fix, it finally was the solution to the issue and now Baloo has no oil spills at any spot where its parked.

CVS are the worst in Bangalore. I shifted from CVS to Sai Ram autocraft. Good service and they fix the all the problems mentioned in job card

Read this entire thread from start to the end, siphoning information as and how i needed. Learnt of many new items available as accessories for TB. Though not new to xBhp, i have sat out most of the action in my garage rather than had been out on the road. However this thread needs to be Re-energized. All the bullet owners here must have really grown into their bikes.

It will be an overhaul of long term ownership reviews if they pour it out . What say!?

          Hi All,

Have booked a TBTS 500 - Stone last week in Faridabad NCR. Waiting for delivery now...I was originally very very confused between the Classic 500 and the TBTS 500 but finally made the decision. (The fact that I am 6'3 and close to a 100kg helped!). I am trying to draw up a list of the following:

          1) Accessories that I can buy
          2) Paint protection for the stone - options in and around Delhi
          3) Crash guard - black or chrome
          4) Silencer - I have come across a few references regarding another silencer that RE had introduced for the TB500 in the auto expo. I have written to RE consumer care but still have not got a revert from them. (Does changing the stock silencer affect the engine to a very great extent??)
          5) what kind of riding gear to buy - saddle bags, gloves and a jacket - the bike is not for commuting and I might not take very frequent trips (but a few are definitely on the agenda)

Any information on any of these points will be really helpful!

Also, I am new to the forum - was thinking of starting a small ownership account once I get the bike - is this the right place to do this?

          Thanks
          JK

It seems like a direct fit. Did you do some modifications to get it installed?

It was almost direct fit.. Only thing I have to do is shift grips, switches and leavers bit inside to make space for mirrors..
Then had to drill one hole each side to fix switches properly. Heres picClick image for larger version

                  hi friends,

I would really appreciate if anyone could answer my small query.

what is the top speed of Thunderbird and sweet spot cruising speed, is it same in terms of performance against classic 500?

my brother is looking to buy an RE and is confused between Thunderbird and classic.

Congrats... now the handle look wider...

I knew... it will be easy to fit.

But I will replace the handle to something straight...

Hi is the xbhp app for iphone still available? Not able to locate it!
Hi..JK...congrats on your new ride. Well i am no expert but i will try and help you with your queries.
                      1. Buy a royal enfield helmet...the full face one. It comes in matt black and overall gels well with the stone color paint scheme.
                      2. Easiest is to get the bike washed with plain water...no detergents...shampoo..etc. The stone color doesn't need polishing as well.
                      3. Black or chrome depends on your personal taste. Well, there are a few things that you need to take care of,
                      a. Make sure the crash guard doesn't clash with your feet positioning on the gear and brake pedals.
                      b. Do not go for a very thick crash guard, or else it will create a dent in your front mudguard. It happened to me....and i had to do away with the crash bar.
                      4. You will come across tons of exaust pipes ranging from rs 500- 5000 in karol bagh. But my recommendation would be to stick with the stock one until the running-in period and afterwards go for the 'goldstar'. Priced around 2700/-
                      5. along with the helmet, buy your gloves from royal enfield too. There's an online store called 'cramster' for the rest of your needs. And yes do visit www.royalenfieldzone.com you will find all the helpful information on the aftermarket accessories.
Hope the information will be of some use to you. Happy thumping...

Yes - have been looking for pictures of both colours online, thanks for headsup on the issues that I may face with the size. I think the 3 bar rounded one looks pretty cool. If any issues with this one, would be grateful to know.

Yes - I am quite overwhelmed with the choices! But I also think it might be prudent to stick to the stock silencer. However, I still haven't been able to locate the other stock silencer displayed by RE at the auto expo. No response from customer care as well yet.

Thanks a lot for your reply buddy. I asked this question because a lot of harleys are coming with shorter handlebars but may be with different foot pegs positions. I was thinking like, somebody must have tried something different with his bike but its fine
