The first gen Dukes came with four hole sprocket lug nuts and the newer ones come with 6 hole lug nuts. The Duke 200's sprockets were 14/42 and the Pulsar 220 if you mean this bike (as Pulsars have a wide variety of bikes under the name) uses 14/36 as far as my memory serves. If you can I'd suggest you replace your four hole to six hole lug setup, if yours is a four hole. If yours is a 6 hole, then stick to stock setup, it gives a perfect blend of torque and top speed, unless you want to undergear.

What's the price of the chain Sprocket of Duke 200? Also, can a Pulsar chain sprocket be fitted on the 200 Duke and which one is better?

Karizma has a 40T - 4 hole rear sprocket.

Assuming rtr 200 4v has 4 rear sprocket mounting holes ,choices r very less. But
u can increase front to 14T from pulsar 180/220/200ns .

If you can source the rear 43T sprocket of the 1st gen duke 200 which had 4 fitment holes then that can be used to slightly over gear the bike.

I got Bajaj Avenger 150 cc, it's got 520 pitch chain sprocket kit. Can i install 428 Pitch chain sprocket kit instead of 520.

428 pitch front sprocket is easily available.

Hey bro,

I have installed the rear sprocket and chain of the XCD125 kit out of boredom.

We have to remove 10 links from the 122 Link set to bring it to the stock 112 Link length, even with the addition of 1 Teeth at front, the length remains stock i.e 112 Links, so even with Platina 125 kit which is 114 Links, we'd have to remove 2 links to bring it to stock 112 Link length.

So basically irrespective of whether you use stock 14T or non-stock 15T, the number of links on the chain remain the same i.e 112 Links.

Actually this is for the Yamaha R3, the stock size is 14/43-112 links 520 pitch
And from what I have come to know, the duke 200 is the same size sprockets but with 2 links less, and the duke 390 is slightly overgeared at 15/45 but with 112links and what I have come to know is if i increase both front as well as rear sprocket size, then there is a need for increase in chain length to accommodate the change, that’s y the dilemma..
There are riders who have gone upto 16t upfront without any fouling anywhere so 15t front is still doable safely.

Don't worry about the tiny motor. The change is a very negligible one.
In the end, its the low end torque one must be bothered about, and if its in plenty, then no worries.
Even if you feel like its not pulling hard, switch a gear lower, that's it. That's why I always say, under or overgearing, always see if the first gear and last gear are ok for your needs..

Well bro, plenty of options exist in 520 pitch too now.

520 pitch... Well, all the senior Pulsars are on this. KTM's are on this. Please check post no. 1 for all the fitments.

As for 14/43 110 Links, it is Duke 200's stock setup.

Not many known options exist in the 15T of 520 pitch, but Duke 390 in my knowledge has 15/45 (.520) on 112 links, but the rear sprocket might be a 6 hole one, you got to check that, also the front may or may not fit.

BTW which bike are you thinking of overgearing?

1. Though the bolts merely hold the lock in place and do not face any actual load, they do tend to come loose if you have the habit of riding hard, and this being a 100cc is most of the time ridden at its limits which has resulted in the bolts falling off in the past. Hence universally you're supposed to use thread locker while dealing with such critical bolts i.e no grease, oil etc.

2. Since the bolts only keep the lock in place you really do not need to go crazy with the torque, hence why you see Allen Bolts being used, these are 4mm bolts if I'm not wrong, there is a limit to the torque you can apply to Allen Bolts before you round off something. On motorcycles that do not use a locking plate, it is as you've said, torque values can go upto a 100nm.

3. Quality of bolts is a real concern, funny thing being the head of the bolt twisted off while I was undoing the bolt, it didn't have enough strength to break free of the thread lock. These were the cheap kind that are made of brass if I'm not wrong, and brass though corossion resistance is soft AF.

Sprocket bolt shearing is a real deal. Most of the times, it's because of either too much torque while tightening or a cheap non-tempered bolts. The problem with the sprocket bolts are, their overall thread length is small and the torque force applied while tightening will easily strip the bolt threads. A little grease, and or a drop of oil while tightening in will make sure, it comes down easily next time. I also see use of Allen Bolts on the sprocket lock washer, which handles torque better and allows for better tightening torques.

Special Thanks to Samarth for suggesting alternate sprockets with matching output shaft dia's.

Overgeared the motorcycle using a 15T front sprocket from the XCD 125's kit, for fellow CT100B owner's the Gen 1 Platina 125's chain and sprocket kit is a direct match, the XCD125's comes with a lot more extra links, but since the Platina 125's kit was out of stock I had to go with this, 15T 420Pitch 17mm shaft dia front sprockets are near impossible to source individually, though stock 14T is easily available at Rs.75 a pop, speaking of which the chain kit from Rolon costs Rs.750/-:





Since the current set is about 15k km's old I only bothered to change the front sprocket and keep the rest for a rainy day.





Not the recommended means to get the job done as ideally the whole kit should be changed, but I couldn't care less at this point.


Have ridden here for a km or two at best in my locality due to Covid restrictions.


First thing to notice was that the 1st gear is more usable compared to it earlier acting like a Crawler/Hanuman Gear, and I didn't get the usual jhatka when launching the motorcycle, this did cause some unrest so I did launch in 2nd gear and she pulled without much hesitation, tried going up an incline launching in 2nd gear and still no issues, that is reassuring.


Next thing was that at about 60kmph when I thought I was in 4th gear, I was actually only in 3rd gear. And at 60kmph in 4th gear the engine purrs at a very low RPM, can't give exact difference cause the motorcycle lacks a tachometer, but the difference was quite noticeable.


The 4th gear has now become a proper overdrive, before she used to scream to 80kmph in 3rd gear and that is as far as the cam would permit the engine to rev, would love to rip her on the highways and see how far she pulls in 3rd gear.


Due to drastically reducing final drive from a rounded 3.00 to 2.8 on this tiny motor I am skeptical so unless I equally hit the trails and highways I would suggest everyone keep their reservations.


Now credits to my previous stock 14T sprocket for crapping out on me;





This is also a reminder why you should use quality fixtures, the ones that snapped were from an unknown brand I got locally at TVM. For Fixtures my preferred brand is TVS, quality is simply unmatched and fortunately we have a supplier at Kollam who was also open today.


P.S. Do not use front sprocket from the Pulsar 150 UG3 or Unicorn, though they're 15T and 420Pitch and easily available, the shaft dia is 20mm and doesn't fit the CT100B which has a 17mm dia shaft.


Here's a Unicorn front sprocket I got:





As you can see its 20mm and hence not a fit.
