    Re: World of Sprockets!

Is there a difference between the sprocket used in Splendor Plus and Pro? I think my chain is due for a change since it has started making some noise. I found a nice rolon chain for Splendor Plus. My mech said that it's better than the one used by Hero SVC. If there are no teeth difference, then I'll change it.

Talking about my experience , i have a ns200. stock is 14T39 , so i dropped the driven sprocket to 36T to make it overgear . result was good to some extent but 6th gear was not usable till 70kmph , after that at 5k rpm 80kmph was too great . but city ride & with pillion ride got hampered. frequent gear changes etc
so i reverted to stock again .
Okk...will keep that in mind. Will update you on the effects after changing the sprocket. Thanx for the support man. Really appreciate it

I guess the Pulsar 150 UG2 has a 44t sprocket with 6 mounting holes. Verify it though.

Yeah bro..... That too..... Eariler I thought that it'd have a .520 chain because it is a 250 cc bike. I don't know why Yamaha gave .428 chain for a 250 cc bike which is even the 100 cc motorcycles have. Many users complain of chain wear.

DO NOT PURCHASE DIRECTLY, first go to Bajaj SVC, try getting hold of an old front sprocket and try fitting it first... If it fits ok, purchase a new one and you're good to go.

Mostly, the service center sells a kit together and this kit (2 sprockets+chain) combined kit may get a little expensive... Maybe between Rs. 1200-1500 or so.

One way is to give the 36/37 tooth rear sprocket to someone else and share the cost... Another way is to go to a local market and ask for genuine Rolon sprocket and tell them to sell it individually.
Maybe if you offer Rs. 700 or so, they might agree to take the risk of keeping the chain and rear spr... that is, if they can sell it.

There are no adverse effects of overgearing if done properly and if the new kits fit ok.

The petrol engine is accustomed to carry loads, and in India we even overburden it and ride upwards on a slope, nothing happens.
Plus, if you ever feel a gear is too high, just shift a gear down, its the same thing technically.
Just make sure the 1st gear doesn't turn out too tall to pull in some situations. (which it shouldn't, on this setup. Read on...)

You're just doing a small change, no big deal. 45/13 is 3.461 and your new setup is 45/14 which is 3.214. Little overgeared.
No big deal, but it will be noticeable. Do let me know how it turns out.

NOTE: Skip trying for the FZ25 front, 15T would be a bit heavy unless you've modified the engine for more power...

Done bro, Thank you so much.

14T Front Sprocket, the exact same one seen on all motorcycles even remotely related to Bajaj with a .520 pitch setup.
    Thanks for the input guys.

I've found that I can't fix the FZ25 sprocket as it has a different shaft design. So it is out of consideration.

Coming to Bajaj sprockets, based on the images obtained from the internet, I feel that the .520 14t sprockets can be fitted on the 200 4v. (not sure though)

But the big catch here is that the speedo of the Apache 200 is connected to the output shaft of the engine and hence the sprocket change will screw up all the speedo and odo readings. (I came to know about that only a few days ago)

Keeping the above mentiond facts in mind and also the fact that I'm actually happy with the stock setup of the bike, I've postponed the idea of the sprocket switch to the not-so-near future.

I've editied the previous post about these sprocket infos.
