Hello all! I don't expect this post to get much of a response, but I'll go ahead anyway.

I own a 2001 model year Suzuki Fiero, which I got 2nd hand in 2009. At present it is heavily modified. These modifications were carried out by my late father by personally going to the scrap dealers in Chennai, getting the necessary parts and altering them to fit the bike. Some of these modifications may not be the ideal build, but they were done on a budget and with the parts that my dad could find. I have listed the modifications below:

    1) Complete engine, crankcase & gearbox taken from a 2009 Apache RTR 180. So now the bike has a 5 speed gearbox. RTR 180 self-starter also incorporated (This Fiero was originally a kick-start model).

    2) Wheels changed to Apache RTR160 alloys, along with Apache RTR160 front fork and right-side petal disc brake. Speedometer worm gear taken from Apache 150. RTR 160 triple clamp was modified to take the original Fiero single piece handlebar (instead of RTR160 clip-ons)

    3) Silencer end-can changed to Apache 150. But head pipe is the original Fiero's.

    4) CDI changed to Bajaj Caliber 115 (Hoodibaba), along with some modifications to the stator windings. This was done by the original owner before we bought the bike and we did not change the setup. We also had to continue using this original stator with the Apache crankcase because of this.

These are the modifications that I remember.

After my father passed away a couple of years ago, I have held on to the bike. I have since moved from Chennai to Bangalore, and it seems to be difficult to maintain the bike in a new city (although I have found that exterior Fiero parts are easier to find in Bangalore than Chennai). The most recent problem is that the bike started emitting white / blue smoke from the exhaust while on a highway ride. Clearly the engine seems to be burning oil. I don't know if this is because of worn piston rings or some deeper damage to the cylinder itself.

I am looking for a reliable mechanic in Bangalore (preferably north Bangalore) who can examine the bike and advise me on the work that needs to be done to get the bike back to good shape. Once such a person can be found and I have an idea of the costs involved, I may consider swapping in an Apache 200 4V cylinder and head.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance that all of you in the forum may have!

I came across a news article similar to what you mentioned.
I guess you already know about this bit of news too.

The fitness certificate plate will be similar to the number plate of the vehicle, clearly showing the expiry date of vehicle fitness. The ministry, in the circular, stated that the certificate should be in the DD-MM-YY format., Industry News, Times Now
The proposal is still under scrutiny and public opinion is called for the display of RC validity . Regarding implementation of the enhanced Levies , if no one files for a stay in a court and does not challenge it, it will stay.

    And Gixxer where are you?
The rest of the guys are missing too.
Everyone are busy riding their bikes problem-free I guess
I was hoping to see some travelogues or mods here after a long time.

Yes. The old info sharing days and jokes were interesting. The charm of this ownership group was that it was very technical as well as fun-loving.

Yup...Not much of info sharing these days since most owners have either upgraded or have gone out of touch. With mounting Insurance costs and now RC validation costs going up from 1st April 2022 , most will have the dilemma of to continue to hold on or to let go...Hope Govt takes another look at it's crushing rules.

Hi. Checking here after a month.

Do get your manifold replaced. It might be cracked that's why you are losing compression. That should solve your starting problem.

The valve set of TVS Fiero, F2, FX and Suzuki Fiero are exactly the same. I think even Apache 150 might match. Not sure though.

Have you checked your electrical system?

    Hi,

This is for anyone who is still struggling to find the O ring kit for the disk brake caliper of Fieros.
You can go ahead and use the one for Hero Honda Passion Pro. It's a direct and perfect fit. It's available for Rs 150. The shop owner told me that it matches Suzuki GS 150 R kit too. So, you can use that one too. As Bismaya posted here earlier, even Suzuki Zeus kit will work.

    Cheers.

Hi guys, I own a suzuki fiero which is in running condition,I want to restore the bike to showroom condition.
Most of the parts are intact just need to repaint .

I want to install front disc break.which bike's disc can I use(I want to use original front mudguard of fiero).
I want to replace carburator, where can I get original one ? (or any alternate one which suits perfectly)
    2.I need Speedometer assembly.
3.side body panels have some cracks,Is it possible to get body panels anywhere(original used ones also fine).

Please suggest/contact address of any good mechanic who can restore fiero well in Bengaluru.
