400+ already tested (476 km to be precise wanted to complete the running in as fast as i could ) . i was aiming a bit more higher like maybe kochi to bangalore through the hills rather than taking the highway should be more fun that route. Got to get one of my friends to tag along need to keep my luggage somewhere dont i and what better option than a bike that can actually hold a saddle bag for real [emoji23]

They said the same thing to me, that i may need to change both the clipon tubes. but i am trying out a DIY this weekend to see if we can work it out on the stock one itself.

If possible you can make threading and then install the bar end weight ..
Rethreading tools are available for diy or else fabricator's can also do it ..

Its odd i had done a small test drive when it was launched and found it having zero vibes anywhere

Vibes are very less compared to the 390. yet there are vibes in lower rpms on the 200, does get smoother as the revs climb. I believe that adding of the bar end weights will smoothen out that problem too

Even i have been getting revs at high rps and when driving on highways or on long rides they do tend to reduce the pleasure of riding. If you guys try bar end weights then do tell me about the results

                    • re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread

Here is my ownership review of the RC200.

I always thought about a bike that was as nible and sporty as a R15. But still as quick as Duke 200. Even went ahead with a project where we tried to plonk in a Duke 200 Motor into Deltabox frame. But the costs involved were way too much as I will never ever get any parts from Merut or Gokulpuri chor bazaar. The end bike was going to cost us close to a Ninja 250R and I doubted the reliability.

Fasttrack to the launch of RC390. It was like if god answered my prayers and I went ahead and picked up test RC 390. Kept it with me for some time and honestly it was not what I wanted. It was fast and sexy but just not what I wanted. The gears were way too tall for city use and I already had a Duke 390 and I hoestly felt that the 44Horses feel a lot more usable and fun on a Duke 390 than the RC. That wheelie popping and whacko feeling you get on Duke was just not there and I somehow felt the RC390 to be way too boring for my liking. Yes its a killer on track and absolutely orgasmic when you get the roads to open up that throttle and enjoy that pull. However, I cant access track much and weekend rides I have around city and those bends at India gate are just not where the RC390 belongs. Just like 99% guys out there, I never looked at RC200.

Then came April 10th. My girl was pursuing me to get her a bike. We searched around a lot of used 220s however they just did not ring her heart and we decided to pick up a brand new bike. We went to Yamaha and decided to pick up the Black-Gold R15. Paid downpayment and were waiting for loan approval however the loan was denied. The stupid Home credit had no idea why the loan was rejected. He was saying because "R15" is an "Expensive bike" they done process loans easily for "Women".

We immediately went to KTM and she fell in love with RC200 at first sight. This was also the first time I also had a "Actual look" at RC200. It looked sweet in complete matt black. I didnt want her to Get a RC390 as the gears were way too tall for her usage and I knew she will wreck it in few days the power was way too much for her. Spoke to Sambi sir at the KTM Lajpat Nagar and we were riding out with RC200 in an hour. Rode it slowly to petrol pump and tanked it up with a tankfull of premiuem fuel. Rode it back to her home at a sweet speed of no more than 100kmph and RC200 felt smooth crusing and taking corners.

For a month the bike was with her. Then came the time for first service. I went to her home dropped my 390 with her and Picked up RC200. This will be the first time I was ACTUALLY going to enjoy the RC200. Rode it out of her sight slowly and then opened up the throttle. Bike revved like crazy. Took the exit to Toll like a mad man and reached India Gate not exceeding 120kmph. Took my first hard corner there and I was like WOW. Within just 5mins of hard cornering I knew this was the bike I was looking for. It is exactly what I always wanted to ride. Handling that exceeds the benchmark set by R15 and the Power + Handling combination is just right. It never feels low on power. Its not unusable in city like the RC390. The gears are short and I was enjoying scraping that foortrest so much. RC200 handles like a dream. The weight difference between the RC390 and RC200 may not seem much but the change has made a world of difference in the way RC200 handles. Its quicker to lean in and way more fun to throw around corners and the fun this bike offers is just out of this world.
As every rider who enjoys a fun bike says. Its always more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

Brakes are just amazing and leaps and bounds ahead of what are there in my Duke 390. Single finger breaking works like a charm and RC200 pops rolling stoppies whenever and wherever you like. The last time I enjoyed this good breaking on a small bike was aborad Ninja 250R.

City riding with this bike is a breeze as long as you dont get stuck in traffic. Once you get stuck, you are doomed. After riding GT for some time I though my wrists were used to weight and now I feel they are still not used to the abuse that a pure supersport like RC200 can throw at them. My wrists and shoulders are still paining however the fun offered by this bike just makes me forget all the pain.

Speaking of looks This bike grabs attention wherever it goes. People just dont stop staring at it. There were instances when I had to grab something from a shop and I will park the bike outside the shop and by the time I walk out people will be gathered around the bike and staring at it and I will be rained with questions like why it does not have a rear seat, how to you manage to reach those clip-ons and ofcrouse "Kitna deti hai" LOL.

Overall RC200 is overshadowed by RC390. However, the truth is this bike is just amazing and just what most of us need around city for weekend rides. It perfect learning tool for new riders. It wont do powerslides, it wont pop power wheelies, it wont scare the pants off anyone but it will do one thing. That is it will give you a huge grin each time you take it out for a spin and there is no other bike and really no other bike in this price range that you can enjoy so much.

I need to return her RC200 tomorrow morning. However, I wonder if I should do that.

                      Overall my rating:
                      Power 5/5
                      Looks 5/5
                      Handling 5/5
                      Value for money 5/5
Street racing is for Squids trying to make up for their small equipment

Great review man, an unbiased one from an D390 owner. Yes, it is overshadowed by RC 390, KTM knows the fact and Bajaj knows to market.

Carry a set of levers (brakes and clutch)
                          Throttle and clutch cable
a tubeless tire puncture kit and a foot pump
the regular tool kit that comes with the bike.
                          a can of chain lube
make sure the spare fuses in the fuse box are present. a little bit of wire around of around 40 cm and insulation tape.

I also carry around the side stand bypass plug (bought from mr.dhaval -google it). the side stand sensor might fail at times, and when this happens you cannot ride the bike because it cuts off every-time u engage the gear. Ive read somewhere that shorting out two of the pins in the side stand sensor wire might help bypass it but never tried it. This bypass device though works like a charm.

And what do you mean by "Also how do you guys attach to your bikes? "
Attach what ? Luggage/bags ? If so, am clueless about the rc, cos i own the Duke 200 and I use the via terra velox bags that are specially made for the duke

                                3000 KMs Update:

So far sooo good! No niggles and I haven't been to SVC after the first service. Last Saturday I was supposed to conduct interviews at my organization, however on my way to office I got a call to inform me that the interviews were postponed to Monday. It was around 4 PM in the early evening and I was no mood to return home. I had no gears except helmet and a fabric B-Twin gloves. But I wanted to let my bike stretch its legs and let all the 25 horses come in to play. So where, was the question? Since it was not an early morning ride, expect traffic at all weekend getaway routes. Kolar highway was one familiar route and got bored with it. Hosur - Krishnagiri very hot, so finalized on Mysore route through NICE road.

10 KMs Electronic city fly over ride was a scary ride, every car is above 150 KMPH, and the bikes scream for their life. Everybody wanted to test their machine’s potential on a two lane ~100 feet road at an altitude of about ~100 feet from ground. Slow movers will be knocked by the fast movers, I think everyone was running fast for their life. I seriously think this flyover is not safe a bikes.
Finally entered NICE road through Electronic City and it was the first time I knew I need to pay toll for bikes too! Since my destination was not finalized I thought to reach how much ever possible in NICE road and return back to this same toll before dark. I was at a least cruising speed of 80-90 all the way and little short bursts whenever possible, since this was a never explored road. Mysore exit came and decided to go through Mysore road. This was a mistake, the Mysore road was congested with moderate traffic everywhere. There is a junction every 200 feet and the maniacs always want to just race with me. Be it a Passion, Discover, Pulsar or anything on two wheels, they just want to test my patience. I was expecting some good roads and reached till Wonderla, took a break. It was around 5 PM and crowd got better, so decided to get back to NICE.
Took a right U-turn, it was a very slow and tight turn, I was overconfident and pushed the limits, "Tak" sound from self-starter motor “Jees” the bike turned off. In gear the bike just stopped in the middle of U-turn and at a good lean angle. First thing I did was kept the foot down, the whole weight of the front was at my hands and the right foot was supporting it. I was just shouting inside the helmet "God don't let me down and I don't want to put my baby down". I can see the road very close to front visor and side fairing, it was a gap merely with a shoe's height. My shoe was between the fairing and road. With so much shouting, I was still dancing, balancing, hurting my wrists and the bike is still at the same lean angle without an inch up. Every passerby was just terrified and staring confused about what this idiot is doing in the middle of the turn. Honkers just honk behind me, every light around me got dark. Luckily my left foot came as a rescue and it added support to lift up the weight. I still can't imagine from where and how the left foot came near my right foot.

Once up, sat on the bike with a big big sigh and breath, tried to crank, no, crank again, no, again, no! God, what now? Got down and slowly pushed the bike off the road. Turned off the ignition key and turned on, now cranked, bingo! He came to life just like any day!! Put up on idle and I needed a break. Sat near the bike took a stick out to light, slowly rewinded everything, What would have went wrong? At around 3-5 in the speedo bike is turning extreme right within a tight space and a good lean angle and the bike was at 2nd gear I never realized it until I pulled the bike up and sat on it. It was purely my stupid mistake. Bike stalled, the momentum pushed me front (I was standing above the tank) and I kept the right foot down.

Thank God, somehow I managed to pull the bike up! The shivering was there for about 15 minutes. Took it slowly all the way till NICE road. Payed for return Toll and stopped, secured my belongings (wallet, mobile phone, change, toll receipts, etc.) because it is going to be one heluva of ride I have ever did on my RC. The entrance from toll to Nice road was definitely encouraging for the ride, a beautiful curve and I hope every riders from Bangalore would have experienced this place. It was a knee scraper's favorite and I did my maximum that day, my knee was so close to the road. Roads were empty with little vehicles running around, and I tested the full potential of my bike. First time on two wheels I have ever seen 130+ speed on the speedo that was an orgasmic adrenaline rush I ever had. A scream on the empty road by me and the roar from the bike. Everything on roads were disappearing from the RVMs quite faster. That was the first time I realized how harsh the rev limiter kicks in. Within minutes came the exit toll where I started and the fun came to an end.

Entered Bangalore with loads of first time experiences, fun, thrill and one hell of a pain all over my shoulders, hands and the two soft bones connecting the shoulder and head. I think the pain was due to the weight and struggle I had while lifting the bike and the wind blast without a jacket. Finally reached home safely and retired to bed earlier than normally on a Saturday night. This 110 KMs ride was one unforgettable ride, which taught me few lessons:
                                Pre Plan your trip
                                Wear proper gears
Let your beloved ones know where you are going
Be CAUTIOUS and stay alert all the time, be it a very small turn!
