re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
Guys, we have a discussion in Duke 200 thread about the top speed and at what speed the limiter kicks in? So I think it's better to ask here for yours.
Mine 2014 November/December manufacturing, tops out at 127 KMPH.
Please share yours, so that we could conclude from which batch the top speed got restricted.

I think I am confused between 127 & 137, even Ajay claimed 137. Let me check again and post back.

I had the worst nightmare last night, i had a dream that i took the delivery of the bike without a PDI and at night i parked the bike near my house and the steering fell off. I am so much worried about the PDI that i even dream of it

limiter kicks in out at 137~138(if the rolling speed is too much). Guess thats been the limit right from the beginning.Originally posted by joe_marvy View PostI think I am confused between 127 & 137, even Ajay claimed 137. re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
Sorry guys, it was my mistake. The RPM/Speed limiter kicks in abruptly at 137 even on mine. While doing 135 - 137 it tries to show some symptoms, but as soon as you hit 137 and still pushing there you can feel the abrupt pull. s1d thanks for confirming, my bad!
Ajay Vishwanath, congrats on your new attempt, all the best with touring. Cheers!

re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
Why is there even a speed limiter on the RC? Duke is naked and so the limiter makes some sense but RC has full fairing they should've removed the limiter on the RC atleast.Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly.

I know right.. we can't even go full throttle on 6th gear because it keeps cutting off power and totally spoils the entire experience. Unbelievable KTM!!Originally posted by jRay View PostWhy is there even a speed limiter on the RC? re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
yeah, but the speed limiter is there so that we don't kill ourselves to begin with.. then comes the engine capability.. maybe the engine is already pushed to it's max (maybe they left a little headroom) but look at the way it gets heated up in no time.. and with that heat, maybe the metals inside might break if the RPM goes way beyond control.. also mind you that the bike is extremely light weight, I had an opportunity to lift the trellis frame only, it weighed hardly 20 KGs, and the 200cc engine, max 25-27 without engine oil (engine oil might add 1-1.2 KGs as 1L is not equal to 1 KG due to the density of the molecules - yeah, science).. also, for people who are professionals and who would like to modify their bikes, they need something right? you cannot give everyone everything.. hence, the limiter.. makes some sense for me to have the limiter..Originally posted by jRay View PostWhy is there even a speed limiter on the RC? yeah, full throttle @ 6th gear, I agree at that speed, it's kinda a let down, but meh, I'm happy with 125-130..Originally posted by broken87 View PostI know right.. we can't even go full throttle on 6th gear because it keeps cutting off power and totally spoils the entire experience. those stompgrips - I got them from the states, my friend was generous to buy and get them along with him when he came here.. costs about $35-$50 2500-3000 bucks.. but worth it.. they stick hard.. but the grips are pretty good..
ThanksOriginally posted by joe_marvy View PostSorry guys, it was my mistake. The RPM/Speed limiter kicks in abruptly at 137 even on mine. re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
Yeah the bike is lighter than most but it still is heavier than R15, Kerb weight if R15 is 136Kg according to yamaha website and that of RC is 137.5KG ( lol i know its nothing ) but if R15 is able to do 150KMPH then RC shouldnt have a problem doing it.Originally posted by Ajay Vishwanath View Postyeah, but the speed limiter is there so that we don't kill ourselves to begin with.. then comes the engine capability.. maybe the engine is already pushed to it's max (maybe they left a little headroom) but look at the way it gets heated up in no time.. and with that heat, maybe the metals inside might break if the RPM goes way beyond control.. also mind you that the bike is extremely light weight, I had an opportunity to lift the trellis frame only, it weighed hardly 20 KGs, and the 200cc engine, max 25-27 without engine oil (engine oil might add 1-1.2 KGs as 1L is not equal to 1 KG due to the density of the molecules - yeah, science).. also, for people who are professionals and who would like to modify their bikes, they need something right? you cannot give everyone everything.. hence, the limiter.. makes some sense for me to have the limiter..
