Is there extended warranty available with KTM bike, any of you guys enquired? I am close to my first service and I planning to go to Marathahalli SVC. Any recommendations guys? Please share your valuable pointers about this SVC if any of you have experienced, your feedback is much appreciated.

Yep, happens to me too.. I get the sound till second gear also. not sure about warranty extenders.. I wasn't offered one when purchasing.. Maybe it's not there.. Please check with your SVC & comment..

@rcboy Congratulations on the new ride bro..

      I'll +1 @joe_marvy

ride slow, all the gears, all the rpms.. don't ride hard.. it's worth the patience.. trust me.. your bike will love you more.. try to ride in the city traffic to get the engine loosened up.. it's a better place I've heard.. and use this time period to get yourself used to the bike.. coz if you are not used to the bike, controlling it might be a big issue in case of hard-braking.. the initial "urge" & "feel" that you are comfortable with the bike & that you want to rev it is not worth the price at stake.. your mental state is comfortable with excitement.. but physically you are not.. so, give it some time to sink in.. after the first service, take a spin with a group on the highway.. trust me you will get more and more used to it and feel confident.. right now you are only comfortable.. by then you will be comfortable and confident.. you will get the "confident" feel after two or three months.. but it's worth it.. every second spend in patience and training & getting used to the bike is worth it..

live long.. live happy.. that's the best revenge that can be served to the people who hate you..

So, Guys regarding KTM RC's being updated. will this change be applicable to existing RC bikes or we cannot enjoy this perk ?

Today i have given the bike for First servicing. Service center guys did not have MOTUL oil. so i had to purchase from outside and give them. Two liters of oil costs Rs 1600 (i felt costly since i am buying it first time. Never knew oil can be so costly)!!

They said they will use some equivalent bajaj oil , but i said whatever is the recommendation from KTM , i will follow it.

Should take the delivery of bike from service station evening. Completed 800km.

One more story, i paid full purchase amt on 31st Dec, and bike was delivered on 9th Jan to me. but service book has registered the date as 31st Dec as sale date and therefore i have to give the bike for service earlier(45 days over on 13th Feb as per the registered date)

Showroom or service center guys could not give an explanation for this.

They said, "Next service is after 145 days so no problem" I hate these people who are careless to address issues. they want to shy away from existing customers !!

I think that is tappet sound. Just put the bike in neutral and hear closely you will make out the sound if it is really there. Get it to SVC if you notice the sound, the sound will constantly increase if it is tappet.

Hey buddy we sailed the same boat! I was about to pen down about the my first service experience, but you did. The funniest part is each and every bit of your words are same in my case too except the oil purchase.

I did the service on Saturday with same 800 KMs and the same confusion between purchase date and sale date. Even I took the delivery on 09th January, 2015 but the sale date in manual says 31 December.

About my service center experience: I gave mine for first service at Marathalli. Service was good, but I hate the people's attitude at this SVC. The service advisor took the bike morning and said it will be ready by 4-5PM and they will call me. I said OK and left. Till 5 PM there were no calls and they didn't even answer my calls. So I was about to start and the call came at 5.15PM. A lady spoke and said the vehicle is ready, the bill amount is 1885/- please bring cash as we don't accept cards. During this call she said about three times to come before 5.30PM. This pissed me off and I gave her nicely. They don't accept cards, I need to bring cash and that too within 15 minutes. From my home this SVC is close but I could never make it within 15 minutes. I reached by 5.45 PM and paid the cash, took delivery and came. No words spoke, they understood my anger with my looks.

Riding experience after first service: No big changes. The bike had no complaints, so I couldn't make any changes. However, now the bike feels free, earlier it was like running tight may be the oil change. The shift RPMs were changed to 9500 and 11500, I changed it back to 6500 and 7500 at least until the bike reaches 1000-1500 KMS.

Run-In is simply superb without the hassle of driving below 50 speeds. I am keeping the bike below 7500 RPM and it reaches close to 100, 95 to be precise. With this speed inside the city is more adequate and commuting became swift. Everyone was shocked with the free service bill (even me), only after checking the next service interval I realized maintaining this bike is way cheaper compared to other bikes. But the spares cost is going to be on the higher side compared to other bikes.

To sum it all, it is an awesome experience owing KTM RC 200.

I was not very impressed by the knowledge of the ktm sales managers and the dealer was not very enthusiastic and even after visitng the showroom at least 3-4 times before booking the RC200, i still hadnt seen her let alone a test ride. So i just mailed KTM India about my unsatisfactory experience with the dealer yesterday and today the dealer called me and apologised and asked me to come to the dealership so he could give me the demo of RC200.

I went there and god is this thing beautiful!!! I started the engine and heard the beautiful sound and sat on the hard seat and finally got to know the riding position. The position is pretty dedicated but the handlebars are wide and comfortable. Amazed to know that we have 4 piston calipers on the back too! The salesman said that the seat is now softer than the earlier made motorcycles, but i really didn't find it hard enough to be a bother.

The dealer still says that he'll deliver the bike by april end. He also made me write a satisfaction letter and asked if i had any more issues with them. I am pretty satisfied now and now craving to get my hands on the bike!

What are you sure there are 4 pot caliper braking on rear disk? On my duke 200 if I applied little more pressure on rear brake lever the real wheel just locks. If there are 4 pot calipers on RC 200 at rear wheel then it would be disaster I think so.

Only the front is a 4 pot caliper, the rear just one.

Bajaj deserves an applause. Can never expect Yamaha to do the same. Suckaz!

Guys, anyone using Chain Cleaner and Lubricant for your RCs? I'm not interested to pay 150 bucks every time to SVC for their shoddy job. Please tell me the brand name and where to get it in Bangalore. I have shortlisted on Motul. Also, is Paddock a must to do this chain cleaning and lubricating?

Motul is the recommended chain cleaner and lube from ktm and yes you need to have a paddock to perform cleaning because there is no other way to lift the rear wheel and you need to lift the rear wheel to rotate the chain.
