I know, I spoke with a Regional manager for Suzuki last month, he told me the updates will be carried out for Next Fiscal Year but I am not sure how truthful he was being. Despite that its better to not keep expectations for this year, otherwise people will get really pissed off....

2019 gixxer is coming. New instrument console,split seat, redesigned exhaust and fuel tank, LED headlight and probably more power...

Next year, not this year. Only cosmetic upgrades nothing else.

Not sure if this is an issue, but yesterday, my mechanic oiled the chain of my bike at around 4 in the evening. I parked my bike once I reached home yesterday, and today morning, there was chain oil on the ground. It likely dripped from the chain. The oil was mostly from the front sprocket. Is this normal?

Another issue that I have is sometimes when I leave the clutch and try to accelerate(the time between leaving the clutch and accelerating), I hear a noise. I'm not sure what noise it is, but it sounds like some air is blocking somewhere(like a spitting sound I guess)

Hi All,

i am using gixxer sf fi 2018 model with ODO reading of 5500km, i am faced strange issue yesterday when i was at 40kmph speed at 4th gear, i was not able to accelerate at all i have to slow down and stop the bike completely, switch off and on couple of times then bike could start. can anyone point what could be the issue? Also recently i an seeing that at cold start when i key in engine check light will not show at first, i have to press ignition switch one or two times to see engine check to light up, after that the ignition will switch on the bike this is happening from last one month is it the same for others as well or is there an issue with my bike?

Also at what time/km people in Hyderabad change the air filter although it is recommended after 10K km mostly people say it depended on environment, i am not able to understand should i change it now or wait another 5000 km

Please help me with my queries.

1. Go to the service center first
2. Read the owners manual, it has all information regarding what to change and when to change.

Observed that long back actually. Before the ABS model was announced. Back in 2017, I borrowed a friend's SF Twin Disc and found that the breaking force on rear was more than adequate at times to stop the bike. But yes, it easily locks up. The solution was to gently modulate it and asked my friend to get his checked at the SVC.

Twin disc and ABS owners, have you ever felt that the rear brake's bite is a little too much?
I usually lock up the rear wheel atleast twice in a month[emoji4]

Dont disengage the clutch when you actuate the rear brake, except in emergencies

This video should help you. 300V is a non-certified oil so forget about it. If you use it and if Suzuki finds out, your warranty is gone. Besides Gixxer's engine doesnt benefit from 300V, not even 1%. It is a strictly racing oil. Also theres no need to use engine flush unless you were using it since your first oil change.

Now this is a personal opinion, but I have tried the ECSTAR 9000, my gixxer sf did not like it a bit, I got a feel of lag while driving.

Prior to that I used the semi synthetic from Suzuki, was pretty good.

Now I use semi syn Shell, 10w40, the ride is pretty good.

What's the difference between Motion 7199 and 300V? (both 10W40)

I'm planning to change the oil from Shell AX7. I live in Bangalore and I ride for 15 KM's in a day. So to which should I switch to? Also, should I use any engine flush?

I was facing break lever issue in my Gixxer SF FI ABS variant. I went to the SVC but they ignored the issue. Then I raised the complaint against them on suzuki helpline and SVC called me back and changed break fluid and cleaned break pads as well, But I am still facing issue. After going to SVC again I spoke with there adviser he told me this is because of ABS. When you pull break lever continuously or while going through bumpy road break lever gets stuck and only after releasing it fully I can pull it. I tested another ABS variant bike from the SVC and faced the same issue. Does anybody else from here have faced this issue?

Brake levers as such, especially front shouldn't be grabby and get stuck when pressing the brake lever. They should engage and disengage equally smoothly, irrespective of ABS or non-ABS. If you find your brake levers grabby, it's time to check your master cylinder piston. Faulty master cylinder pistons would mean, grabbing brake lever. This can also be caused if your fluid level is low. Secondly, ABS when detects a wheel lock, pulses the brake lever which is perfectly normal.

The user in no way has to bring a brake lever back to its position after usage of the brake. Get it checked, if you're under warranty opt for a replacement or overhaul of the master cylinder.

Regarding the oil change interval, manufacturer of oil typically suggests the amount of kms you can drive, which is around 4k for semi-synthetic. It may seems a waste of oil as well as money to change the oil prior to manufacturer recommended period. Though first time services for break-in should be 2k spaced for oil changes for removing the metal debris.

Lets hope your better judgement does you good.
