      Hello Folks

I am happy to report that I finally received my Ravishing Red Interceptor on 17th April after almost 5 months of waiting. And the wait is worth it, I am sure all the owners will chime in unison. I moved from Duke 390 to Interceptor and it was instant love. I think most of what this bike feels like has been written already so no point repeating. I am enjoying the ride and sure wish to make loads of memories. Accessories installed: Fork Gaiters and Long Windscreen. Some pictures below

        Congratulations on th bike.
That "long" windscreen doesn't really seem that long.. or usefull...

I think I'll try and see if the Himalayan windscreen does the job for me

          Congrats on the new bike

I also have a 2013 model Duke 390 and I am interested to know your views on comfort of Interceptor 650 over 390. By comfort I mean:-

          1. Handle-bar, seat and footpeg ergonomics.
          2. Width of the seat and also its firmness/softness. Much is written about how unsuitable it is for long hours on saddle due the seat being very soft.
          3. Pillion comfort in terms of seat and foot peg.

I am seriously thinking of changing from D390 to a more durable and comfortable bike. Seat on the Interceptor deters me. Looks to narrow and unfortunately, I can't ascertain these points in the short test rides.

I agree, the tall windscreen is more of a styling exercise than functional. Bullu Patnaik installed Himalayan windscreen on his for the Bhutan trip, you can check his review on his youtube channel. I usually ride within city limits so unlikely that I will consider anything taller in the near future.

            Hi Nitin

I'd start on a positive note, I am quite happy with my decision to upgrade from The D390. Of course both are different machines but I feel the Interceptor does fill in the gaps nicely which I used to complain about on my older bike. I am still running in the engine hence my experiences are not gospel truth. I am still learning the machine and I might come back later with few observations which may be different.

On the rider ergonomics and comfort, it is definitely better than the Duke, the suspension does a good job and after my first 200 kms of riding, I can feel very satisfied. The throttle response is a lot smoother both upwards and down unlike the older bike which was quite jerky and just wanted to throw you off. Also the Interceptor's well managed extra weight (compared to D390) makes it very planted and compliant, you will notice this the first thing. On my ride with my brother as pillion, who weighs 87 kilos, I hardly felt the bike or myself struggling while filtering through traffic or when I moved the bike on and off tarmac overtaking other vehicles, it was an easy sail.

Now let me answer your questions and try to give a perspective of an ex D390 owner which might help you

            1. Handlebar is on the sportier side, meaning there is a bit of reach. I like that and am enjoying the slightly leaning forward riding posture and since I have slightly longer arms I get a nice fold at the elbows. The foot-peg is really an issue, be prepared to scrape your shin and calves trying to move stationary bike and the weight on this thing makes it even worse.
            2. Migrating from the Duke which had wood planks for a seat, anything is better actually :P I have done around 220 kms in 6 days of owning it with the longest ride at a stretch being about 60 kms. I am not complaining yet, will surely post about my experience once I am old enough on the bike and have done a long ride.
            3. I did a short ride of 20 kms with a female friend of 5.2 ft height, she did not complain but one needs to be careful with the exhaust pipes where RE could have installed a panel to save shoes from sticking. She did cry after her ride as pillion on the Duke, cursing me and swearing never to sit pillion on that bike. On the other hand my brother of 5.11 frame sat pillion for about 30 kms and complained of knee ache.

No bike is perfect and this one has its own quirks, let's see what more I discover. My biggest fear though is RE's infamous after sales service, I hope they are evolving too.

Thank you for your valuable inputs. Pillion comfort is a main area I am focussing on and your comments are encouraging. My wife has sworn she will not ride pillion on Duke for anything more than half hour!

I personally find Duke rider seat VERY comfortable. It has lot of space to move about.

I will wait for your feedback after you clock somemore kilometers and hopefully after a highway ride we all can benefit from your perspective.

I just want to ensure that over a period of time this is a more comfortable bike for both rider and pillion before I take the plunge.

A.S.S-frankly across brands, across cars and bikes experience is inconsistent at best. All depends on the technicians knowledge and Service Advisors target.

That said, congrats once again and wish you stress free ownership[emoji106]

Why don’t you rent the I650 from Royal Brothers or Wicked Ride for a few hours, ride in the city as well as the highway. This experience should help you with your decision making!

I was constantly under double mind whether to buy Interceptor or not... this one call changed my mind! I immediately requested for preinspection of the bike... visited the bike... liked the color... Asked the showroom guys for the documents that I need to carry... done! Went to showroom paid the full payment... so hopefully I will get my bike on Friday!

Congrats, But why on Friday here in Delhi i paid and picked the bike up on same day RTO recipt is done online same day the number did came 2 days late this time otherwise in previous cases i got the number on same day as well. Registered on 5th April got the rc smart card yesterday as well.

I would suggest not to buy the fly screen as it is flimsy and does serve no purpose.
                        Congrats Again.

Well, the dealer said, RTO inspectors comes on Friday for so he said pick up the bike anytime after inspectors visits.
I've only asked for black bigger guard and under sand protector. That's all!
Btw... he asked me for 5 years ZERO dept insurance... so I went for it.
