    Re: Interceptor 650 Twin

Apparently only the 350-500 category is going to see a price bump. The 650 twins will not receive any hike.
The manufacturer is likely to increase prices of its 350cc and 500cc range by Rs 1500 to Rs 2000.

This is nice to hear. A simple heat shield could do wonders for the pillion, given the current awkward placement of rear foot-pegs. It would be even better to have some spy-shots if possible, so that we can see if RE is making any changes.
The front foot-pegs aren't too much of a concern for me. Didn't have much of an issue during both test-drives.

Also, does anyone have more news as to why the deliveries have slowed down?

The small shield or gaurd above the exhaust like the one in thunder bird of the one used in Bajaj avenger would work fine for both the sides.
Britain launch was last week and now this week is us launch and other places too, that could be one reason for delay as uk have received first lot of demo bikes.

Hi. Can anybody share a pic of RE 650 twins next to thunderbird ? Tried googling and could not find any. How is the looks and ride comfort of both the twins for a 6'3" rider?

        Thanks

Google Thunderbird, Google REI 650, you'll have tons of pics, save the desired picture on your desktop and compare side by side, as simple as that. Jokes apart, the Interceptor and the GT isn't that great ergonomically for tall riders when compared to the Thunderbird. Some aspects have been compromised with keeping the design language in mind. I'd strongly recommend you to take a test ride.

          Cheers!

          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

The indicators though are a hit and miss, as mostly they have a single work pattern, not dual as the guy on the video. But can be procured. Start off with searching online, and it should point you in the right direction.

You can even comment on the video regarding the same. Hopefully the owner would reply.
Will the 3year/40K kms warranty be still honored if fitted with aftermarket parts? As long as the stock wiring is not cut/tampered and revertible to stock condition, warranty should be honored by RE I am guessing. Being a brand new engine from ground up and with the REH engine/frame issues during launch, it's pretty much safe to say not to mess with and not have warranty for the 650twins.

650 twins has a very long warranty period compared to any other bikes to just wait it out for the warranty to expire, most bikes have maximum of 1-2 years.

Any existing CL/TB/REH owners can comment on this who have claimed warranty while having aftermarket parts installed.

Yah, that's good suggestion. Let's hope they fix it before deliveries start. Wondering why they cannot keep exhaust straight? That way they can lower the pillion footrest and it will not touch pillion shoes. I guess they have lifted exhaust due to its length. However keeping it straight may resemble it to RD350!
I will have to postpone my purchase if it is not fixed before my delivery date. Cause my better half has simply refused to sit behind and burn her shoes.
Btw... New rumours on internet Bajaj - Triumph to launch twin cylinder 500CC bike by next year.

Next year is too optimistic. According to some news outlets they haven't even finalized the deal yet. KTM said they are planning to launch a 500cc bike I feel like that would hit the market before the Triumph-Bajaj one does.

I think (I might be wrong) its more to do when the bike goes through water because this is my personal experience with CBR250R during Chennai Floods in 2015 since it has lifted exhaust the chances of water getting into exhaust was very low and I was never hesitant to stop the bike in flooded roads but many RE's very struggling as water keep getting inside the exhausts.

This might be an amateurish question but bear with me , so the bike comes with tubeless tires with tubes but one of the reason why we go with tubeless tires is because tubes has one risk of exploding at high speeds especially on hot summer roads (happened with my uncles's safari once) , does the Interceptor will have any impact because of tube tires at higher speed if used prolonged periods ?

Can you post a picture of the rear taken from a little far away from the motorcycle so that I can understand how it actually looks?

I'm pretty sure RE would have had that issue covered during their testing period. They also claimed that the Pirelli tyres were specifically developed for the twins too.

Also, my sales rep called me yesterday to inform that they will be getting a batch of 650's on the end of next month. So, I'm really excited! fingers crossed.

Some DIY solutions I was considering-

                            1) Steel heat shield fitted using a flexible aluminium holder.

                            2) Thermal Warp (The usual ones sold on Amazon) around the exhaust can at that specific area, where the heels are most likely to come in contact with it.

As a user of thermal wrap on my classic 500 those things do not age well. They will definitely ruin the look and make the bike look cheap. The heat shield sounds like a better idea.

18k is bit too much for this, Gurusewak and red rooster has already made exhaust for 650 and soon sans would come up with something which is reasonably priced.
But again all this would be illegal and on the open road these loud pipes are nothing but a pain in *** to the rider and the other road users. I have ridden with loud pipe on highway and it gave me a headache for days and i never rode with that pipe again on one of my re in past.
Stock is the best exhaust IMO.
