Well maybe that is a wise choice but which other bike can you invest in which may deliver to the performance for the price since it is the cheapest twin cylinder bike in india. Maybe that's it they pride themselves on the fact that they have the cheapest 650 (for now) in the country and can allot ridiculous waiting times because they know people will wait or will get fed up and cancel which will decrease the load of the manufacturer.

Again i'd like to say this is just my opinion and i do thank you for any support you give me.

Well there were a few factors as i have GMG classic 350 bought just a year ago and my riding is very low as its just has covered 2700 in whole year and i had an RD earlier so thought int650 would fill that void of RD but then i thought as my riding is pretty low that too in city so will wait till initial niggles are sorted and waiting period go down or who know i get lucky in second hand market down the year

After waiting for 4+ months, I've lost interest in Interceptor. I am considering canceling my booking and take back my deposit amount. I may postpone my purchase due to multiple issues I see and I may book a basic bike to move around city.

          1. Pillion foot pegs are not at all comfortable, my wife didn't like them and said she cannot sit behind for more than hour on this bike.
          2. I do not see the RE cares about the feedback by customers. Every reviewer has complained about pillion foot pegs but they are not fixing this
          3. I saw too many youtube videos with issues...

          Ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78O7DxcfbWg

          4. I'm banking more on Bajaj-Triumph bike more than RE. I'm not confident about RE quality.

Honestly, expecting changes so soon is just not feasible. The twins are not primarily meant for the Indian market tbh so I'm pretty sure pillion comfort is not exactly at the top of their rectification priority list. Now, what RE would be focused on is to regularise production to meet the demand and to avoid mechanical defects with the process to avoid another Himalayan incident. Next is to develop some functional 1st party accessories and finally collect feedback on the first batch during services. Any changes would realistically be expected after a year at best.

Yah you could be right, and I'm thinking because of the same that I should postpone my purchase and for the time being just buy a basic bike. Next year, I'm for sure know that Bajaj twin cylinder bike is coming. Atleast will have some option to choose from.

                  Okay Friends,

I now have ridden Interceptor for 1800+ km and intend to clock 500+ km every week for next few weeks.

I have customized the bike for my needs i.e. saddle stay, top rack, seat and pillion foot rest, Pillion backrest. I am working on handlebar and windshield.

Also I am surprised at some friends feel that Interceptor is out and out cruiser, which it certainly is not. Fact: it is adapted design from a cafe racer. Hence, interceptor is bound to have limitations. Anyone who considers Interceptor should accept these short-comings. Another fact: Anything with this kind of displacement figures is twice as much expensive if not more. So lets not even discuss value for money proposition.

The way I see it is this: I paid 2.94L to buy interceptor (On Road price, Ahmedabad). I put in 20K to make it good for my needs. Once I am done with pending mods, I will have a cruiser as good as any other in this displacement.

So far, RE support has been more than generous. So even if their record in past may be shoddy, they are trying very hard to make things right.

Do I expect glitches in future? Yes, this is first production run and I assumed that risk while booking the motorcycle.

All this comes from a happy rider who never had affection for classic rides. And now that I am sold, I hope to enjoy rides!

                  Cheers!

I finally took the delivery of this chrome beauty SIRIUS ( the brightest star in the sky) yesterday.
I booked a mark three black on 24th of January 2019 , i have started bugging the showroom folks last week only and as per them the expeted date for my booking is April end or mid next month. I put a little pressure on them as this is my 3rd Motorcycle from this showroom. Finally got a call from them on 2nd April late evening saying that they have Chrome one available as the original person who booked it couldn't clear the loan formalities and they can now provide me this on my original booking as i am next in sequence. so i finally decided to take this offer yesterday and made the payment and took delivery in the evening yesterday.
70 days i waited in total.
So far so good no complaints.

Only thing i noticed when i got back home is that they have fixed a sticker on the owners manual which has my details and chassis and engine number and on the bottom of that sticker there is a note stating that , warranty for Motorcycles sold from 1.4.2017 onwards would be 24 months and 30k kms. This got me confused as i was earlier told that warranty is 36 months or 40k kms with one year free rsa(will clear this today with them)
Got the rto msg late evening so hoping to get the Number today.

Quite lucky man that your waiting period was this short. I booked mine on 10th December at South Delhi Motorcycles, a ravishing red I650. I was told I may get delivery by Jan 2019, then in Jan it got pushed to Feb and then to March. Finally, after routine daily follow-ups, I was given the 1st week of May 2019 as confirmed delivery time, I think everyone got emails from RE confirming their respective delivery timelines.

I got a call from the showroom on 25th March that they are getting a ravishing red one on 31st March, please proceed with payments and I did. 31st March came and went, 1st April came and went and so did 2nd & 3rd April. They have my full money but not the bike nor an answer to where the bike is, and that really makes me wonder.

RE really disrupted the market with 650 twins' aggressive pricing but that's about it. I understand that no bike is perfect for all riders and riding conditions, it needs to appeal to the heart and the 650 twins certainly does. But I shudder to think the same of RE as a brand, it is not very comforting to be in the dark, to not be taken care of. Showroom reps have no answers because either they are also not told by RE what the hold up is or there is some grave issue which is unspeakable. Either way RE, not a very good first impression.

That's bad , i wish u will get the Motorcycle soon. In my case what really worked is that i am regular customer for this showroom, Interceptor is my 3rd royal Enfield from there. So they pushed my booking to the earliest spot available. They actually waited for the confirmation from the guy who have originally booked this chrome bike as he couldn't arrange the finance.

I'm seeing multiple threads about delay in bike delivery and disappointment related to it , guys/gals this is something you have to deal with at this point in time as RE and anyone else for that matter has not expected such huge surge in demand. In general you can expect a demand of maximum 600-700 bookings per month for a bike that costs almost 3 lakhs but RE clocked more than 1000 bookings in FEB-19 and they have to deal with bookings outside the country where customers will be less patient and also is a emerging market for RE which they don't want to screw it up.

For everyone who have booked the bike be patient, its an excellent bike and has few niggles (which is common for new bike and also not a deal breaker kind of niggles) but it just takes too much time for delivery that's it.

I visited RE showroom here in Pune for specific 350x check and out of curiosity asked about interceptor’s information. The first sentence from sales person was “iska 6 months waiting period hai”.

The bike has turned out to be everything i hoped for, but fallen short on couple of points, so would like to know your opinion and suggestions on the same.

                              1. The seat is pretty un-comfortable for the pillion (seat too narrow and too soft), any seat modifications that might help, or is it better to go for a touring seat (in this case which one the interceptor one or the continental GT one).
                              2. Any solution for the exhaust pipes, has any one been able to install any type of heat shield on this
                              3. I was told by one of the mechanics in the workshop (gone to get the accessories fitted) never to fill up my tank as it might result in an air lock is this true, never had this problem with any of my other bikes.

The accessories that are currently installed on the bike are

                              1. Fly screen
                              2. Crash gaurd (chrome big)
                              3. Sump Gaurd/bash Plate (ZANA, could not find the RE one anywhere in Hyderabad)
                              4. Looking for a nice retro looking tank bag that can be fixed on a permanent basis (any suggestions for this will be very welcome)
This Youtuber Bulu Biker has done modifications to his Interceptor 650. I hope the video may help u
