That's dangerous at many levels.
He knows manufacturers can sell dumb stuff at high price to Indians. Quality can be brought down to 3 months rust period and yet there will be people who will buy it.
It will not dilute the brand image because we all see Maruti thriving nicely and taking truck loads of money every day to bank. Bringing in new products is different, pricing them is an altogether different game.

BMW is recalling its G 310 GS and G 310 R motorcycles for bad brakes

The brake calipers can have their pistons corrode, causing them to seize according to the recall report from NHTSA. This recall is currently only for US region. Any Indian owner facing issues with brakes? If yes, just a heads-up to keep a look-out on the recall news.

Check out my review of the bike.

CAVEAT This is NOT for BMW fanboys, as I have mentioned in the video also.

Very neat and clean video, loved it. You could avoid intro repetition, all in all a nice video.

              MEP,

              Thanks for the kind words.

This video was actually in 5 different parts as my friends asked me to do so for different areas of the bike.

Then, Rushlane asked me to stitch the separate ones into one continuous video. I had made the parts on Windows Moviemaker and didn't know the way to remove the separate intros to each so they all came into the final one.

If you know of some free software that does a better job than WMM, please do let me know. My Ladakh review of the bike is pending and I'll make it with the new one.

This is stupid...appointing one big overall boss for two completely different products under the same brand.

Car design requires a car mind and bike, bike.

Prepare to see both sides getting eroded.

Thanks for sharing, I'd say spares are priced on-par and acceptable for the BMW branding, only issue and bummer still remains is the flat fixed ₹190 per 5 mins labor rate across all their BMW Motorrad bikes, be it G310 or S1000RR, flat @₹190/5mins.

                  Imagine a 2hrs valve/timing/head/lathe job, will easily endup in ₹5380 just in labor(24 units of 5mins x ₹190 + 18% GST).

Honestly they should atleast comeup with lower labor rate per/5mins for entry level bikes like the G310, as they are less complex bike to work-on say when compared to a F850GS or R1200GS or S1000RR, spares are fine can be still managed!

Yes, the guy did give me a scare when he said, that next time around there will be valve clearance checks, etc. Which means opening up the engine, and MORE LABOUR !!

ya, that was the worrisome part, I had run only around 4200 km, out of which more than 95% would be bumper to bumper traffic. I had never experienced such early brakepad changes in my unicorn earlier. So I doubt if its my riding.

Better stay with the bike during service or ask them to send a snap before they change any part just to be sure .Unless you were riding the brake pedal no way the pads will wear out at 4000km. Gone are the days where you could trust the showrooms even if you trust the brand .

This doesnt mean that GS does not have enough power for pillion and luggage. For me, GS reliability is not an issue. I have almost completed 5K now on the odo and have no issues absolutely. I would look for options always and would be happy to make a choice of my own rather than to buy something out of no choice. After all, it's hard earned money.

As for servicing is considered, you should have a one in Bangalore and you need to do it only once in 10K or 1 year after the first one. Mysore and Bangalore are not too far off in my opinion. You can always plan a ride for the same. My own experience with BMW service was good. I was able to stand with the mechanic and see all the basic stuff he did on the bike (changing oil, checking and adjusting chain slack, tightening of all nuts and bolts etc) with all my questions answered by him. So now, if I need to do some basic stuff, I can do it at home too. I am the one who would like to dirty my hands at first given opportunity.

                              Trust this helps you.

                              take care and ride safe.

Hi team, My name is Akshay and this is my first ever message on the board. I have booked my new BMWG310gs BS6 and the delivery is sched in the next 7 days.

I am buying a complete new set of riding gear and helmet. 90% of my riding will be touring/intercity and perhaps 10% off road. I live in Mumbai.

Would someone be kind enough to point me towards the right set of gear to be bought. Any inputs will help!

P.S.: admins, I am an utter noob on this forum so please feel free to guide me to the right thread in case of any errors. Thanks!
